taking off panels
OK guys and gals, going to be taking off panels tomorrow to put on aftermarket stuff. Remember reading something about the pop clips, and vaguely remember something about zip ties. Any one have any thoughts, cautions, or advice on do's or don'ts?

You didn't say what model you have. On all of them though be careful with the rubber grommets that you don't push them through when you re-install the panels. We usually squirt windex in the grommet before we reinstall them, that lubricates them without leaving them greasy. We also always use bins to keep the nuts and bolts in. I keep one on each side of the Spyder, empty bin at the end of the project means you didn't forget anything.

Good advise...
the RS,RSS,ST's are much easier. The RT's have the gromets/non-removable screws to watch for. If you have the room, I put all mounting nuts and bolts with each panel. The bin is a great idea in limited space but in any case you should not have left overs (unless you didn't finish your lunch)

I label sandwich bags with each group of screw, bolts, grommets I remove...i.e., Right side panel screws. That way I look at the bag and know where what goes.

Numbering the panels is a good idea. If you have your owners manual it explains real well how to take them off and put them back on.
