    Default Low Battery Alert

While riding this morning, the Battery Low alarm came on, followed by the abs, engine then bike shutdown.
Do you think it's the battery?
I always put it on the tender after each ride. Maybe I need a new tender. Also can I jump battery with car ?

    Default Don't know..!! and yes...

you can jump start it but seems you have loose connections or the battery is going. Jump it ryde it a good ways and see if you get it charged back up. You can also have it tested but if you have had it for a long time just replace it and save yourself the trouble coming...

The battery is 2yrs old with 23k miles. I had planned to replace it before my next major trip this year. I'm pretty certain it's the battery
I tried starting it just now and it only click ed.
    Thanks

A low or bad battery causes all kinds of warnings to pop up. It sounds like that is the first place to check.

Since it came up while you're riding I would guess it would be a loose or corroded connection first. Then failure of the mag or voltage regulator/charging system. Not real likely since there have only been reported a few failures there. Now if the battery suddenly shorted out and sucked up all 60 amps the mag was making is possible but I would not bet on it.

I disconnected the battery tender after 24hrs. Tender (green light ) indicates charging complete. Cranked bike and rode approx. 2 miles I then shut it down and restarted 3times with no problems. After the last start I'm allowing it to run for approx 1hr to somewhat similate the yesterday's trip. I'll post any findings later.

    Thumbs up Good call

You made the right call to face it and replace the battery. An alternator will not charge up a failed battery. I've been an electrical technician for decades and there is no doubt that you need a new battery. You're not wasting any time or money. Good call.

When glass mat batterys decide to die, they just do it. The batteries can't read so they know how long to last, so they just die.
If I can't fix it, I will fix it so no one can fix it. Sypder Loco!

    Have Mercy....
I allowed myself an hour but it took less than 10 min to unzip liner and remove the battery. Can't believe I got all worked up for something that only lasted less than 10 min . Oh well...

Update : The new battery didn't resolve the issue... I returned it to my dealer. The dealer checked the charging system and informed me that the stator needed to be replaced. The good part, it's still under warranty and waiting on parts.

This is the second stator failing that we've heard of, in about the past two days...

The Dealer replaced the stator but the problem continues. They are running more diagnostics to pinpoint the problem.

Did they check the RFB 60 fuse? They need to check the voltage regulator/rectifier too. There are times when a shorted stator will take out the fuse and the regulator/rectifier. Another point to check is the battery connection at the BUSS bar. Some techs and quite a few owners don't know to check this connection.

    How old is the battery?
Even one on a tender will only last about 24 months.

Note to that the charging portion doesn't kick in until the engine reaches 4,000 RPM

I, and others that I know of, have had many batteries last more than 24 months. The main key to long battery life is ensuring that it is properly prepared when you put it into service. Too many folks (including dealers) rush the prep time and set the battery up for failure.

Thank you for the input, so far the dealer has eliminated the battery as the source.

Just spoke with the dealer and was informed that they are waiting on further instructions from BRP to continue diagnostics. This is a reputable Dealership and I'm confident that they will resolve this matter to my satisfaction.

Update: Last week, I was informed that the magneto had arrived at the dealership and that it would be installed this week. Today I was told that the special tool needed to install the magneto was broken and a replacement tool wont arrive until next week. When I suggested that they try borrowing a tool from their other dealerships, the Service manager told me that their (all dealerships) special magneto tools were also broken.

I plan to speak with the owner tomorrow. Seven weeks seems to be somewhat long for a repair.

Update : This morning the service rep informed me that the past 2wks were spent attempting to remove the magneto (using the special tool) without success. They are following BRP instructions.
    Frustration is slowly creeping in......
