Love my job
HVACR. Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration. I was 12 years old when I first installed a compressor on a refrigerator for my father. I'd been going on jobs with him for years already and have been doing it ever since. 40 years and still love my job. He's been doing it for 55 years and we'll talk about work for hours to this day. He always told me choose a job that you like and can make a living cause that's where you spend most of your time. My son is 22 and went on his first job at 6 months old. I was supposed to be babysitting and had a factory down so I handed him to the customer while I sorted out the problem. He now is 3rd generation HVACR guy by his own choice. 1st job is firefighter and HVACR on the side.

I wanted to bump this topic to the top. I find it very interesting how people got their handle.

Rawhide kid
Grew up the youngest of six on a Montana cattle ranch near billings. We used CBs in the winter, so we all had handles. Ranch is called rawhide ranch- we still have it in the family. I'm current president of the ranch corporation.
Anyway. My dad was "boss rawhide" , mom was "mama rawhide", and one older brother who is a doctor is of course "doc rawhide." I, of course, being the youngest, got the handle "rawhide kid."
And there you are. I miss Montana a lot, especially the mountains. We get up there about every other year. Took wife and our four kids to glacier last summer. Stayed on the ranch a few days.
We Moved to AZ to go to grad school in 1997 and never left. Jobs and the in-laws moving here have solidified our stay. We go camping and hiking to get out of the heat. I'll go biking more now. Can't wait to get my farkles mostly done and do a nice day or two trip somewhere.
Think ill ill do a trip to Montana in a couple of years.
Thats all.

My Handle
When I was active duty Air Force I used to have to Thump on quite a few folks in order to get my mission done and take care of my people. Now that I am retired, it's the sound I make when I tip over if I don't have my forearm crutches or Wheelchair

In grade school I hung out with the neighbor girl, Katie. My older brother decided to tease me by calling me Elmo Lucy Katie Lover. He still calls me Elmo Lucy from time to time. I named my truck Elmo and my Spyder Lucy.

Dumb stunt
About the age of nineteen several of the guys were playing with a small brass cannon. We ran out of fuses so I charged the gun and poured black powder back some distance and lite it. As my face was over the fuse port when it exploded it really messed up my face. I turned to look at my buddy's and Rodney said "Kennard your hurt." It stuck, three days in the hospital, plastic surgery and now at 65 ugly as ever and the guys call me Kennard.

I grew up is a large family and we loved to camp and travel. The only way my parents could afford to take us was they bought a 1958 school bus and me and my dad spent hours in the evening converting it to a motorhome. Our last name is Lyons so my dad let me paint "LYONS DEN" on the side of the bus with a cartoon lion head in between the words Lyons and Den. After I grew up my wife and I purchased a new motorhome and the plates were lynsden. So I try to always use lyonsden for a username and when I can't I use lyonsden999. Some of the greatest memories of my life were in that old school bus and working on it with my dad.
