1350 1450 Is normal,so yours is in the ball park. There's no adjustment that's where it's designed to idle at.
As far the clunking go's [slamming] believe it or not that's normal too!
I had a Honda 929 that would sound like a sledge hammer hitting when you dropped it into gear.
