New Instrument Cluster??????
2011 RS 30,000+ ks
been ignoring this for a while but it has got worse and does not throw any error codes or go into limp mode because of this and only seems to happen on hot days.
previous owner cracked the lens and I have stripped the cluster and there seems no evidence of moisture but that doesn't mean its got in and then evaporated
Leds are incomplete when displaying foot brake warning
can see "avg" dimly on top right of display
A large "1" dimly displayed left hand top of display
5th bar on Temp gauge dimly light
new one, fuel gauge showing full tank after doing 200ks.
If I have to replace the cluster I understand that
1. distance readings need to be recorded from old one
2. from research I believe BUDs is needed to match the new cluster to onboard computer, Is this correct.

Don't know..!!
you will be set back to zero at least in milage. I don't remember any mention of having to hook up to buds. If you search here you may find out I know many have changed out their clusters.

Yes for buds on RT
I changed the cluster on my wife 2010 RTS,Would not recognized new cluster had to take it to the dealer to hook up to buds to work.
And it is correct your mileage will be set to zero.Dealer said no way to add mileage to new cluster.

Question about changing out the cluster, does it need to be from the same model/year or can it be swapped for one of the color LCD modules in the newer Spyder?

I don’t think it will work. Year and model spicific applications.
