    Default Demo Model 2014

Folks, I have the chance to pick up a 2014 RTS SE6 for a deeply discounted price. The only "issue" is that it has 380 miles on it from demo rides. My question to you? Is it worth it? I know a lot depends on the price. I can get a 2015 for about $4K more for the same model. I only demo'd an ST and treated it well. Although I am sure others beat the crap out of them on demo rides. If you were in my shoes, would you take the chance on the 2014 demo model? Is it worth the discounted price? Thanks.

If that's all it has on it I would go for it. Not worth 4K for 340 miles difference. Good luck

Especially is the discount is big enough. That it's a demo would be a negotiating point for asking for an extended warranty.

    Good luck. Post pics!

If the 14 had NO accident damage, I seriously doubt if any test riding could have hurt anything...

$4000 is a lot of sayings...Get the extended warranty and get riding...

if there are not external scratches and such, you should be fine. You will have a full warrenty to take care of any mechanical issues that could possibly arise.

I bought my 2012 RT with about that same mileage as a demo. I now have over 10000 problem free miles on it.
    I say go for it!

I bought my 2014 RT SE6 as a demo. No problems. Full warranty. There was a minor scratch on one fender and the dealer replaced it.

This was posted for the base model. I would call them and see what they have.

just happen to have the # 903-454-4440 ask for Curtis.

...Well you can still get your hands on a NEW 2014 RT ,SE-6 ( basic model ) in either black or white for $ 18,799.. out the door , no other fee's or charges. At least this what the Ad states...................at Louis Powersports , Greeneville Texas.............................This is just a public service announcement (for Spyderlovers)...Mike

with so little mileage and for being what it is, the demo ryders are pretty gentle. Those that know the spyder know how to ryde them those that don't take it easy. Can't drop them you know......big savings good deal..

The machine is pretty well computer controlled. Makes beating on it tough. Not saying it could not be done, but doubt it was ridden very hard. Consider the dealer location, and source. If the bike was a Daytona Bike Week demo ridden by someone with no interest maybe a bit different, but overall it should not be a concern.

    400 miles vs. $4,000 more. I think that one is a no-brainer.

As long as the demo machine carries a full warranty--you should be covered.

Due diligence and check for any accidents, and you should be good.

Demo's and rentals tend to get beat up a bit--IMO. You even read about that on here. (Drive it like you stole it, etc. etc. etc.)

Why not ask the dealer for an B.U.D.S. readout? That will tell you if riders have been winding the snot out of it. Compare the rear tire to a brand new one. Based on my little over 3 1/2 month old RT-S with just under 3K miles if the engine hasn't been living at the red line for those really meager miles I'd go for it. Agree with OP on the warranty covering things you can't see.

I agree with everybody else - I'd get the demo. BUT I'd also try to sweeten the deal a little more. You said that the one you could get for $4000 more was a 2015 model. Not only is it a demo, but it's also a model year older. I think there's room for a little more discount. If dealer won't budge on price, get him to at least throw in a 3 or 4 year extended warranty. That could potentially save you thousands, but cost the dealer very little.

...my '08 was a low mileage Demo model that just had the 3K service done. Paper work showed "New" as it had never been registered. Got great finance rate at my local Credit Union (2.99 I think). Rode the bike until I traded it for my current 2010.

...Now if I could just find a favorable price on a 2014 RT-S and trade my 2010 Premiere Edition Number 670...................hmmm

Well, My opinion is that you should be 100% happy with the bike first, but if it checks all of your boxes then grab it! That sounds like a pretty good deal.

Sounds like a good deal. We bought a 2012 Demo with 1200 miles on it and it has given us good service. The only question to ask is when did the bike go on demo at the dealer, they give six months extra warranty for the demo time and I didn't know at the time. My bike was put out to demo in March and we bought it in November so I thought I had time to get the extended warranty but when I went to buy it I found out my regular warranty had run out. But thanks to a great dealer in Henderson NV (Proshop Powersports) BRP let me buy the extended warranty anyway. Just get an idea when your warranty will run out on paper in case you want to extend the warranty. Good Luck on your deal!

    Default Thanks Folks

First off, thanks for all the sage advice. I too thought of it as a no brainer but wanted to hear from some experienced owners first. On the subject of warranty, it looks like BRP has a promotion going right now where all new 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015 models get the two year standard warranty along with the two year extended BEST warranty. Buyers also get the four year roadside assistance. So I think I'm covered on the warranty side of it. Working on a deal for the heated comfort seat and a drivers backrest to go with it. We will see how it goes.

    Thanks again for your input.
