Mini compressor and flat repair kit?
Hello and suggestions welcomed.....
I'm in the preliminary stage of planning a trip with my two wheeled friends to Death Valley. Since a lot of this trip will be in the middle of no-where, thought it would be a good idea to carry some kind of mini compressor and some kind of flat repair kit. Any suggestions? I used to carry some kind of 'plug' repair kit on my two wheeler but wasn't real happy with it.
Thanks in advance!

The best compressor is the one Harley sells - inexpensive, high quality, in its own pouch and has multiple power options, including using the dongle for my Battery Tender.
For tire repair, Motorcycle Consumer News reviewed a nice easy to use Dynaplug kit, that I was so impressed with, I bought one for my (adult) kids and myself for Christmas - best of all, it fits in the compressor bag...
All of this at under 2# and roughly 3x4x5 inches.. and about $60 for everything you need.

check to see if the compressor you get will operate on the amp (fuse) capacity of your bike.. I bought the "STOP & GO" compressor from www.motorcyclesuperstore.com... it works on my Spyder.. it comes with in a case and its pretty small...

I kept blowing fuses with the $6 yellow crappy Harbor Freight compressor but now that I have it on a 15 amp fused line, no problems at all.

I use the one by slim. It works great.

I also carry a small compressor and plug repair tools and plugs. As others have said, make sure it is compatible so as not to blow fuses. I have to admit that I've never had to use the plug repair stuff so not sure how well it will work but at least it's something.
Another option is to put Ride On tire sealant in your tires before going. If you are not familiar with it do a google search. It is NOT like other slime type products that make a bad mess when removing the tire and many motorcyclists swear by it. I'm probably going to put some in my rear tire when I replace it shortly.

You can also find a very compact compressor and patch kit in the Dennis Kirk catalogs.

A Little Research
The pigtail for my Battery Tender Junior has a 7.5 amp inline fuse as does the Harley compressor pigtail which makes the latter the choice as there's no need for a second pigtail hooked to the battery. Although Battery Tender told me they did not recommend connecting any other accessory to the pigtail, that was before I found out the size of the fuse in the Harley compressor system.

I have used ride on for years. Works well, will not corrode your wheels. It has saved me from having tires go flat several times.

I tried others and also found that the Harley compressor is best.

Ride-on...and ride on.
Just piling on here to recommend Ride-On.
I've used it in all tires in both of my Spyders. Worth every penny. (It also actually helps balance your wheels.)
There are many compressors on the market...I have the brand name, "Slime". Works great...its digital readout is very convenient.
As mentioned earlier, I won't ride around the block without my compressor...doesn't take that much room (about the size of a typical book.)

I have this one. Works well for its size. Was 19.99 when I bought it it showed 39.99 when I ordered it.

compressor/repair kit
The Feb. 2015 issue of Road Runner Motorcycle Touring & Travel magazine reviewed 6 different compressors ranging in price from $100 (Best Rest) to $37 (Stop N Go) and the reviewers opinion was that he would be comfortable with any of those that were reviewed. I have the Stop N Go and it's the best insurance policy I have ever bought. For me, the space (or lack of) was the biggest factor since my two-wheel machines do not have the storage capacity of my RT-S.
For plugging, I carry the Stop N Go Pocket Repair kit with the "mushroom headed" plugs.
Fortunately, I've never needed to use either for a road emergency.

Very well thought out. Worthy of emulating. Thanks.
