What a find!
My wife found this in storage today...the helmet I was wearing in July 1980 when I was hit on my Yamaha XS 500 by a drunk driver. This was the helmet that literally saved my life! (Though with other injuries I had I was in the hospital for over six months and it took me two years to relearn how to walk). It's a Simpson and I THINK it was called a Type 36, though I could be wrong.
Anyway, I want to get it cleaned up and put on display. I've written Simpson to find out if there's a way to do that without destroying it...the foam liner inside has already disintegrated.
This incident was a turning point in my life...I was so badly hurt I was medically retired from the Navy and I've had to live with the pain and scars from it ever since.
But, because of this helmet, I'm here to thank my wife for finding it...and participate on this forum.

That's actually a pretty good idea. Just clean some of the dust off of it and go from there.

BTW, the Seahawks decals are on there because I'm originally from Seattle. And it was NOT easy getting those decals back in 1979!

It will look good on a fireplace mantel. I guess in Florida you may not have a fireplace mantel, but you get the idea.

I agree with preserving it 'as-is'. Great thought... glad you lived to tell.

Yes, most certainly vintage hawks logo for sure.
glad the helmet was a good one and as your signature statement says there were a lot of good bands playing the Seattle center coliseum back then and a few at the Paramount too. I was from Port Angeles back then and made the trip via the Ferry to catch a few of those concerts. Glad your still here to Rock On!!
