now that I got it what do I do with it??
I bought the electric frunk opener and a pushbutton OFF momentary ON switch with a waterproof rubber boot, now where do I put the opener mechanism? and how is the best way to hook it up? I am sure someone has already gone this route and I sure would be grateful to anyone who could save me from reinventing the wheel. I know where and how I want to mount the switch.
thanks
Andy

Basically it is a servo the pulls open when the power is applied.
I do not know if the 2014 models are pre wired for this.
My bet is they are so wiring should be a matter of finding the socket under the lid and plugging it in.
I have an instruction sheet that I can scan and post if that would be helpful.
Hi Roger,
No I dont have the oem item, I bought one from eBay that is supposed to look like it and now am wondering how to mount it. since I am new to Spyders and dont know what the previous RT's looked like that had the trunk opener mechanism I am somewhat at a loss. I dont even know wheere the switch was on the models that had the trunk opener. Finding a place for the switch and running the wires is no problem, but I havent a clue how the opener was mounted since I have never seen one on a Spyder. Please do send me the instruction sheet and any photos you may have of the opening mechanism mouted in place on a Spyder.
Thanks,
Andy

When we bought our 14 RT I was slightly
disappointed that unlike our 13', it did not come with the electric switch. We had the dealer install the OEM switch etc. and the price was reasonable. I know you don't have to have it to open the frunk, but it sure is nice. Did you get a price from the dealer on the OEM parts? Best of luck.

So, remind me what the problem is with just pushing/turning the key again??

There is no problem with it from my perspective,

but I really prefer the electronic option, and thankfully it is still an option on the 14' just after the fact.

I wouldn’t waste too much time thinking about it.
