    Default Another Newbie Question

I know this has been discussed before, but I cant find the specific answer I am looking for. I have seen posts mentioning the difference in the speed in MPH showing on the speedometer, versus the actual speed the Spyder is going. What is the difference in MPH, and is it faster or slower? I have a 2012 RT SM5.

    Default Pick a number..!!

you can plug in your gps and compare but your results will have nothing to do with mine. Lots of variables to consider so find yours and go with that...

Good advice, and this may sound stupid, but I dont use GPS. Got it on my phone but I usually know where im going, and if im not sure, Im pretty good at figuring it out pretty quickly. Guess I will have to get it out and use it. As usual, thanks for the help.

I love ryding the Beast and I usually too busy enjoying the ryde. My wife and I will just get out and she will tell me turn here or turn there. Next thing you we are in banjo country. But I always seem to know how to get back home without the GPS. We both enjoy the heck out of going wherever. The rydes the thing. Not the destination.

Never use GPS...have one, but it is always packed away. Once in awhile if in a new area and desperate for coffee...will ask my smartphone to get me there QUICK... I consider every trip I take an adventure and I realllllly don't like freeways...not issue driving them...but I want to see the real America and IMHO that ain't freeways. Yep I travel at least 20k a year without GPS..and

From past discussions the speedo shows your speed on the order of 2 to 3 mph faster than actual in the 70 mph area. By Federal law a speedometer may NOT show you going slower than your actual speed. That's why the mfr's always err on the showing faster side.

Search for postings with my ID and 'speedometer'. I think I quoted the pertinent parts of the Federal reg.

....................Contact your local Law Enforcement Agency ( in person is better ) and ask them where and when they will have a Stationary Radar set -up. Almost every agency has one ......Then just drive by it and check it yourself.....................My 2014 RT reads 1 mph fast at 30.........2 mph at 60 etc.

A couple of years back; I had a... "friendly" LEO with a gun let me make a... pass by him on a real nice straightaway.
The 2010 RT speedometer read 101, and his gun said 97: close enough for me!
