While I like all of the TricLED products I do prefer the Custom Dynamics HMT brake light. Mine has the run/brake setup with a modulator. As other have said, it looks like it was installed at the factory.

Mine is from CD, and I bought it for my second Spyder as well. It's just a visual preference.

I would consider if you plan to do any additional lightning and make the decision based on the overall preference for the lighting, rather than just the one light.

I think the Custom Dynamics HMT brake light is the way to go. It may cost a few dollars more but it fits like a glove and very easy to install. Don't be intimidated by taking off a few pieces of Tupperware. After you do it, you'll think it wasn't all that bad. TricLED has the best 4th and 5th brake lights.

I just bought mine on EBay for 224 delivered and that included the brake light dual converter.

Now, I just need to find the time to install it.

    Good luck.

EDIT: And now I just ordered the 3rd & 4th brake light from TricLED. They're having a Black Friday sale.

There was no explanation as to where or how it is installed. If they are going to sell something on line, they need to offer pictures and videos that show how the product looks installed on a Spyder. All I saw was blinking red blobs.

I used the universal mounting plate that goes behind the license plate. Its shown on the opening page(picture of the lights flashing on each side of a license plate) when you click my link.Any motorcycle/Spyder that has a license plate can use these Hyper lites.Very easy to install and very very bright.I like the 5 flashes it does before it goes into the steady light mode.

Make sure you do not have to return it. When I traded my 13 for a 14 I had the dealer swap some things from the 13 to the 14. When I picked it up low and behold they had swapped out the HMT brake light also which I did not request. I had already ordered the new light for the 14.
When I returned it ($348) I noticed my refund was $60 short. When I called they informed me that a 15% restock fee was charged, the original free shipping was deducted plus it cost $11.95 to ship it back. Total cost to return was $71.98. Just a heads up. Yes after digging around on their site it did say 15% restock. I wish they would have reminded me of this when I returned it. I could have discounted it and sold it to someone on this site.
I do really like the product but still have not digested $71.98 to return a $348 product. Part of this is my fault for not reading the fine print. Custom Dynamics failed to mention this nor was it on the return label or instructions.
All my life I wanted to be somebody, now I realize I should have been more specific.

When you start the installation process; getting to the wiring connections can be... a test of your patience!
Some folks have found it easier to remove the tailpiece and left taillight from the bike.
We followed the instructions, and found them to be workable.
The trick is that the OEM wiring loom is buried pretty deep in the bike, and there's not a lot of slack in it...
The Missus was able to get a "U-Shaped" coat hanger around the back of the plug that you need to work with, and it made it possible to unplug it, add the new wiring harness that comes with the lights, and then get everything plugged back together as planned.
If you need any help with installation; put up a flare!
