Was at the dealer the other day and saw this premier edition Spyder totally transformed out to be a chase vehicle for movie making. Check out the front seat in the Frunk and also the rear. What a contraption!
where did they fine a 35lb cameraman for the front seat..?? but it is ideal for this. With the platform they can get around and remain small and agile..

It makes you wonder about the contraptions that they build around cars that might be used in a film...
FWIW, until his death from old age years ago, I was semi-constantly reminded by one of the locals at a small airport, that he did all the movie rigs onto the prior year F1 cars for filming the movie Grand Prix. Same guy also was on the payroll at GM and did similar camera mount or odd ball advertising stuff. He often talked about installing truck suspension on a DC3 or something like that plus other oddball ideas for advertising.
Also, this guy was close friends with Duntov of Corvette fame, knew Dan Gurney when he was a kid, was buds with Bill France (not the son) of NASCAR, and even was friends with Roger Penske. No doubt he had involvement with those folks also regarding film footage or race car stuff. He was a grumpy guy sometimes but also was an old school mechanic and most times fun to be around.
I have also had the chance to work with some Hollywood folks that built stuff like this for all sorts of movies and commercials. I've seen some of their crazywork, and like the Spyder in this post, they certainly go for function over looks.
All the guys reference were a blast to be with and work with. Lot of talent and living a can do attitude.

About 30 yrs ago I worked as a Tech Advisor on a Burger King commercial.
They had some homemade type of dolly that they could move around/push/pull/etc as they needed to so that they could get just the angle that they wanted for a particular shoot.
This dolly had an over-center boom to hold the camera out so that they could 'reach out' and get the shot they wanted.
I have a degree in Mech. Engr. so this dolly really fascinated me. I was talking to the cameraman about it and he said that it worked great except the one time that it didn't.
They were out in the desert shooting a car commercial. They had the camera-end of the boom ( with the camera on it ) extended & lowered to get a shot of this young woman, driving a convertible, coming straight at them. The game plan was to raise the boom and do a 'coming & going' shot all-in-one.
The only problem was, someone had forgotten and locked the boom into position; it would not lift.
When the car came at the camera, they decapitated the woman driver.
Not a good day for anyone,
