EDIT: After watching it again; there was no report of recoil from the previous shot... She had a Squib load, jam the barrel.

. . . I'll bet it was a squib. She looked to have had a misfire. She cycled the bolt and ejected the round that didn't fire, but didn't examine the cartridge to see if the bullet was in it, or not, nor did she check the barrel for an obstruction . . . and that is pretty much what happens in a rifle when you fire a round when there is a squib in the barrel . . .

If you watch that video again; when she cycles the action; stop it, and back it up to that LAST round...
You'll see her reacting to the anticipated recoil, but there is no sound of a shot, and no recoil...

At least she didn't do, what the nit-wit with the shotgun did!

It isn't always hand loads. My son and I were at the range, last year, shooting commercial ammo. He was shooting his S&W Model 1917, a .45 ACP revolver. The hammer came down on a round and there was a "pop" from the primer, but no recoil . . . sure enough, the bullet from that round was in the barrel, just past the forcing cone. It happens.

I've got too many "oddballs", and accurate loads for the standard stuff...

It looked like she was checking the chamber before that last blow. She should have waited until she was sure it was clear.

Had "squibs" in Viet Nam with the new M16A1 along with faulty magazines. That was hell in a firefight.

Was in the BX today. Naturally have to check out the gun counter. Immediately started shaking and drooling. They have an M1 Scout rifle in stock. I wasn't allowed to hold it even though the salesman said I could.

I agree but This person is asking for a M-1 thumb. I was taught use the flat of my right hand to hold the handle then let go release it. this is going having it go forward when he presse tha clip.
I stopped in a gun store/shooting range the other day. Asked what a M-1 was worth. He told, then said, he had one I could hold if I wanted. Even if I was not going to buy it. Felt good, did remember a few Honor Guard movements. I think they were called Queen Anne manual of arms, spin and all that. Oldmanzues

Even though the M14 was a superior Battle weapon in every functional way; the Garand just tickled my fancy... I took a 1953 version, and tightened it up to NM specs for hi-power competition...
Even with my lousy eyeballs and open sights: 1" groups at 100 yards...

If I had the bucks I'd snatch up a Garand in a nano second. Along with the Scout. I had a 6 mm Mauser in New Mexico that I used for deer and other medium game. For Antelope and pig I used my Winchester 30-30. A .300 Weatherby for bear and elk. That Weatherby had a kick. I usually loaded it with 180 gr. SP rounds but took a notion to load 200 gr.Partition rounds one time.
