Default WOTG sought..... Keep the 2012 RT A&C or trade for the 2014 RT Ltd?

I have received a VERY attractive offer from a local (2 hrs north) dealer on a 2014 RT Ltd if I give them my 2012 RT A&C. I have researched all the differences, Perused all the forums, read every thing I can read on both bikes. BUT I cannot make up my mind. Good in hand vs possible better in the bush. I am seeking the wisdom of the group .... What would you do, or have done?

My fate is in your hands..... Be Gentle!

If you can afford it, go for it, the 14 is a whole new adventure over the 12, I know because i had a 12, 13 and now a 14, the 14 wins hands down in every sense.

TRADE!!! Got to demo a 2014 RT earlier this year and I was lost! Swapped my 2011 RT for a 2014 RT Limited. No regrets! The hubby (Tobor 9) will trade his 2011 RS as soon as BRP brings the interest rates down.

If you can afford the change, go for it - the 1330/6 is terrific. Personally wouldn't consider the LTD tho. The base is perfect.

I traded my 12 for a 14 and what a difference. @ others in our club did the same thing after testing out the 12. I say go for it.

Again, as others have already said, if you feel the money works for you, go for it.
I am very pleased with my 2014.
The ride, stock out of the crate, is better than my 2010 with all the suspension upgrades.
No heat. No gas smell.....Well, I had the gas smell once. Then I found out I forgot to put the gas cap back on after refueling.
The new bluetooth electronics are terrific.
    Seat is more comfortable.

Buy and enjoy. You will be pleased.
I got the RT SM6. Manual clutch. I don't need the extras on the LTD.

Have you taken the 14 for a long spin?
The real question is... do you enjoy zipping around at 6, 7, or 8000 RPM if you do then the 12 is the bike for you.
If not then the 14 would be good if the dollars make sense.
A few of us actually like the sporty RPM's of the 998 and have stuck with them.

My Spyder is not yet two months old and has only 1,830 miles on it, and the three reasons I spent no time investigating used RTs are great low end torque, the sixth gear and better mileage. One 40+ mile test ride and I was hooked.

Everything that I ever loved about my 2010, I love even more on the 2014.
The stuff on the 2010 that needed to be addressed; they nailed with the updates!

Here is another vote for getting the 2014. I test drove a 2013 RTS. I did not like the RPM's that the engine was running. A friend purchased a base model 2014 RT with the manual transmission. I always thought I wanted the semi-auto. After driving his, I was sold. The 6 speed shifts so smooth that I would not have it any other way, unless they came out with a fully auto version. And I love the lower RPM's at cruising speeds. I am still not seeing 40 mpg yet (normally 36-38), but I still love it.

For me there was nothing wrong with my 13 that the 14 didn't fix. Go for the trade.

I couldn't agree more. The LT is a whole bunch of money more for a little or things you already have. Who needs more luggage and $1,000. set of small floorboards or another GPS? I got the 2014 RTS and love it. That's my $.02.

    Ride in comfort,

I'm looking at the way you wrote this, and I'm wondering if the trade in is a good deal, as you said "if I give them".

No question, the 2014 is the winner, but I would see if you can do better with a private party sale than a trade in. Do you mind sharing the numbers?

I traded my 2012 RT Limited in May of this year for a 2014 RT Limited. It was a great move. the 2014 with the 1300 engine, 6 speed trans. and other features solidified my decision. I am VERY HAPPY I made the trade. Happy and safe riding to ya.

What I meant to say was "trade in" my 2012...... Numbers are: my bike plus 10K out the door. I can live with that.

I would trade to. I like my 2012 LTD, but for the bigger engine and 6 speed tranny, if i could afford the 2014 i would trade to.

Take the deal and run, run, run to the dealer.

I had a 2010 RT-S and still have my 2011 A & C RT. Both are/were very good machines. Traded in the 2010 RT-S on the 2014 RTS and have not looked back since.

The 2014 outshines my other RT's in everything. You have heard all the good stuff, so I wont repeat it. It cost me almost 15K to move up and I am still happy with the deal I got.

Let us know what you decide.

Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.

    Previously : 2008 GS-SM5 (silver), 2009 RS-SE5 (red), 2010 RT-S Premier Editon #474 (black) 2011 RT A&C SE5 (magnesium) 2014 RTS-SE6 (yellow)

MY FINAL TALLY: 7 Spyders, 15 years, 205,500 miles

IT HAS BEEN A LONG, WONDERFUL, AND FUN RIDE.
