....It might be an issue as far as the 998 is concerned , and BRP might not want to go through the trouble of proving it was a combination of the BODY + ENGINE + EXHAUST . So with the 1330 Ace in two models now anything with the 998 may just be eliminated............................JMHO.....Mik e

This is a concern of mine......I would understand it....but us 2013 owners have been screwed ......1st the Spyders are a heat machine.....dangerous....then the price cuts.....now if this comes to be......elimination of 998.......disappointed

If, you're refering to my recent lay down?

Was a good thing I was on two and it could "tip over" because there was no room left for anything else -zero-zip-nada. Had it been the spyder, it would have been much worse for both the spyder and me. In fact, that was one of the first things I remarked to my riding partner. "Glad I wasn't on the spyder". Damage to the FJR came to over 6K. The spyder would have been totaled.

My tossing of my ST1300 down the mountainside in WV was appraised at nearly $6000.00. The insurance company considered it a total loss.

    Hi cuzn,

Re: can the the safety board stop them from selling them here in the states

I am no expert on this issue but I believe that they can. I also believe that they stop anyone who owns one from riding it any longer; sort of a 'grounding' as it is called in aviation.

10 yrs ago I owned a BMW. I read a fair number of articles on 'grey market' cars coming into this country; mostly BMW's. One guy in the local BMW club had one; he had bought it overseas ( it was a model not offered in this country ) and somehow had gotten it licensed & titled here in Oregon. He was constantly worried that, eventually the authorities would find out about it, and he would have to send it back or destroy it.

One article that I read told about a guy who brought a $300k Ferrari in and eventually watched it get shredded right in front of him.

Not only did the Feds stop them from manufacture, dealers were prohibited from selling used units. There may be some nits to be picked, but the bottom line was, 3- wheels were done in the ATV world.

all on two wheels. More on four or more. Guess I may need to start multi-coloring for three wheels.

There's a little bit more that this story...
The Feds came to an agreement with the manufacturers during this whole mess...
    Which the manufacturers wanted anyway!
Honda controlled the patents that set the footpegs, seat, engine, and wheels in optimal locations...
This is why their ATCs were so good, the their competitions; weren't!
It pretty much leveled the playing field for the ATVs that followed...

    Hi 2dogs,

    Re: How outrageous!

Nothing outrageous about it. You cannot bring/drive a non-compliant vehicle into/in this country.

That's what 'grey market' cars are.

If you don't believe me, go buy a Asian or European version of a car and see if you can bring into this country.
