Punctured belt

I caught a rock in the belt and it punctured. Sprockets are fine, no damage there. I was able to remove the rock.

My dealer has ordered me a new belt but what do ya'll think...is this ok to drive on for another 100 miles?

It appears to be almost dead center. If it is splitting out at all I would say no. If it isn't I would Ryde.

Thanks for replying. After I took the rock out, I took it around town (about 15 miles) going from 0-60mph. No change in the hole yet.

Ultimately the choice is yours, but based on your picture I would not worry about 100 mi. Heck I would not worry about 1,000 mi. Get it fixed first chance.

I had a small rock do the same thing on a Harley belt. I put 25,000 miles on that belt before I sold the bike.

your good to go for a spell longer. When the new belt comes in change it. I would keep the old belt as an emergency spare..

Ride it but check before every ride it is ok

If it were mine I'd ride it. Probably for me I'd finish the season and have it swapped out over the winter. That damage is very minimal.

Think I'd slap some superglue in it and ride it but get it changed as soon as I could.

if it was an edge hit I would change it ASAP, but a center one can last a very long time.

If this is something that will worry you all the time you are riding than change it for your own piece of mind.

If you can avoid stressing it to hard it should last several hundred miles orat least until you get out of cellphone reach out in the of no where USA

A little bit of duct tape on the hole to keep it from spreading? All advice above is good--IMO. Just keep checking before each ride.

If you want to prevent this situation, just install the missing belt guard from SpyderPops.

Doesn't look too bad being in the center. I would keep an eye on it and run it until I needed a new tire if I didn't feel any vibrations. Keep a new one ready, but I think it might go for a long time.
