I bought the "shorty antenna" from Custom Dynamics" and used it Tuesday on a trip where I was about 50 miles from a local radio station before I got any signal loss.

The WalMart shorty worked fine for me when I lost the OEM. Still have it "on the shelf" in the garage, just in case.

It figures, that I'd be the "Odd Duck" on this one...
I tried the Shortee that Custom Dynamic sells...
The reception was noticeabley poorer, than with the OEM antenna.
However: I live here in the Mountains; so reception is always an "iffy" thing around here...

I went back to the OEM "longstick", and haven't regretted it...

Good point Bob. The Custom Dynamic's antenna works great for me. But I live in an area that the altitude changes are calculated by inches.

I just broke off my antenna, when i bent it over to put the cover on it! DON'T MAKE MY SAME MISTAKE, I GUESS THEY ARE MEANT TO BEND THAT FAR! The fiberglass snapped off just above the attachment nut, which I cannot get loose. I stopped trying, until I'm sure it is suppose to come off, I don't want to break something else, I'm good at that! Anyway, if I get it apart, I may try the stubby mentioned from WalMart, that hopefully is not so delicate, and I'll post my outcome! Good luck on your choice!
