Break-in Service...
I just got back from my Dealer for "Bon Temp's" 3,000 mile servicing.
at 3,256.48 miles...
I've spent 22.49% of the time below 2,000 rpm...
76.48% between 2,000 and 4,000
and 0.04% in the 4,000 to 6,000 rpm range.
Curiously enough; BUDS DID rat me out; it recorded a maximum rpm of 7680...
Aaron: the technician who works on my bike, also tightened up the mirrors, printed me out a copy of the BUDS report, and replaced a missing clip in the bodywork...
TOTAL BILL... $136.07.
My Happy Dance, is busting-out all over!

Just think now you have 9300 or I prefer 10000 until you next service.. I had that one done, also very reasonable since these units are easier to work on now I am closing in on my next service already . will be well before year end.... I had to start using the eco mode more to keep my rpm profile down (old habits hard to break)

3000 mile service....
I am taking my 2014 RTS SE6 in for its "break-in" service and was wondering when should valves be adjusted.......I was told by my salesman the oil change would be about $180.00 and the full service (oil change and valve adjustment) would be around $400.00!!!!!! There is nothing in owners manual about valve adjustment in the service requirement section.......just wondering....

Word of mouth, or in one major case: If a dealer tells you that you NEED to get valves adjusted at your first service OR if they say you need a 500mile break in service.....as I've heard on this forum MANY MANY times....RUN FER DEM HILLS!
Bob or anyone, correct me if i'm wrong...i'd hate to give any misleading/incorrect info....(i read a ton of posts...just dont get alot of opportunity to post stuff...usaually at work wich is a big no no )

Just a bit higher
Bob:
I just picked up my '12 RT from servicing at 24,000 miles (767.21 hours) and found I had exceeded the limit as well. My top end recorded as revealed by BUDS was 9520 RPM.
That wasn't why the service manager yelled at me though. She was unhappy with the RPM profile showing that 39.87% of the engine life has been between 2000 and 3999 versus 37.43% between 4000-5999.
I thought I was doing real good at keeping the revs up but I guess I have been moving it up to 4th gear too often. Comparing my record to my wife's RT I find that she stays in third gear a whole lot more than I do.
The service manager also mentioned as an aside that if the clutch on my RTSE ever has to be replaced, BRP will look at the BUDS profile to see the engine speed report. If it shows the majority of the time spent in the under 4000 range it is quite likely they will deny the warranty claim.
I just need to change my driving habits a bit or move to the 2014 model. I think it will be cheaper to stay in lower gears longer.
(I think I will also post this on the 998 forum).

The dealers need to pay more attention to the model and year of bike, that is being brought in...

What are you doing?
Bob, my only question is why did it take you so long to get to 3000! You need to get out and ryde more my friend. Doc had 3000 on his before the new year started. Probably spending too much time Farkleing!

Well, I'm PO'd now. I had my 3k service done at Durango and they didn't give me any of that info. I have been wondering if all they did was the oil change. It cost about $200. I think next time I'm in for service (probably at Pitbull during Spyderfest), I'll ask about getting that report. I didn't even know they could get all that.
