Default a little help with a measurement please

i put elkas on mt 14 rt and for some reason i bottomed out the other day on a speed bump, anyone with a 14 rt can you please let me know the measurement you get from the floor to the tip of the frunk. i get 16 inches right now and i took the measurement to the V tip of the frunk because that was the easiest place to get it w/o having to come get the key and move the bike. thanks

Yep, when they can't see it any more , all they can do is guesstimate on the high side.

That's why we're better at reading maps...
We fully understand the concept of, "Three inches equals twenty miles."

Mine is 18 1/8 to the point on the hood from the ground. Elka's installed that was removed from my 13.
Sold my 14 RTS went back to 2 wheels.

    John,
Try four turns on the preload (Twist the spring so that it's shorter), and then take another measurement...

You would most likely want to add a click or two on the damping, since the spring will be reacting a bit stronger...
Jdon't wait for them... Make your changes from a known set of circumstances, and document what you do, and how it affects the bike...

Just for a reference, full "droop" is 19 1/4 from the point to the ground so you don't want to be too tight on the springs. Do you know what numbers are on your springs? Mine are stamped 5.8 x 254
