I think that highlights the problem though of the gas tank reaching in excess of 300 degrees causing the adhesive to break down...

Do you have a link of the blanket you used and any pics of it installed. Ours has always had issues with the heat under the seat. Especially in the summer. Makes it almost unrideable.
