Default New 2014 RT Manual with Locked transmission

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but would like to hear from you if you have. We were riding yesterday on a road close to home going about 55 MPH when the transmission locked on my 2014 RT SM6. We heard a noise, and then it was locked in sixth gear and we skidding the bike to a stop since the rear wheel was locked up. We have about 7500 miles on the bike and it is four months old. We believe it is something in the transmission. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Thanks,

this is the first. Getting stuck in gear, a few, but none locking up the transmission. When you find out what did happen let us know..

Sounds like something broke for sure. The mechanical experts will come on with good information.

Wow, I am glad you are both ok. I haven't heard of your problem prior and have not had any tranny issues on my 14 RT SE6; only have 2,500 miles on it.

Your clutch cable must have broken off or something else.

Glad to hear that you were able to get stopped without any further disasters...
That's got to be a busted trnasmission. Since the rear wheel was locked-up; I assume that it killed the engine as well...

Could be anything in the drive train from motor, tranny, to rear wheel (and everything in between) if it's totally locked up.
Check the easy stuff with the belt starting at the rear wheel....

Not being funny, but make sure nothing got kicked up in the rear wheel. Haven't seen this on the Spyder but have seen two wheelers get something wrapped in the rear wheel and lock up. Just a thought.

Only ever seen this on a auto rs with more than 200,000 k on it .it broke the teeth off the crank for the front cam drive and when the cam stopped the piston said hallow to the valves and engine locked up.but on a new bike very unlikely and I doubt if they will tell you the real reason why but would be good to here what they have to say anyway please keep us informed.
