2013 RT SE5 is lunging forward when down shifting
Hi...My spyder started lunging forward when down shifting this week. It has 1200 miles on it, been riding it for about 2 months. Whether i let it auto-down shift or I down shift. Any thoughts? pretty severe when going down to 1st gear.
Thanks.

That's a normal; yet disconcerting, trait of them...

Bob, It is much more severe than it has been prior. I understand it has always done this to a degree when downshifting to 1st gear, but even with my foot on the brake it lunged a few feet forward this week. It is such a hard shift and lunges even when downshifting from 3 to 2. Thanks.

This is NOT normal!!!!!! When I bought my 2011 used with 260 miles on it, I had never ridden a spyder. My lunged terribly and scared the hell out of us - especially when downshifting in curves. After riding it like this for over a year, my service tech took it for a ride and was shocked at the way it downshifted! He took it apart and found the clutch was very badly burned and was never disengaging. It even "creeped forward" at stop lights! He replaced the clutch with a new heavier built one and my life has been blissful ever since. I truly never knew what it was supposed to ride like until I test road another. Get the clutch replaced!!

Here's the thing..!!
there are some mods made to the clutch springs. Had some ryders clutches finally go out from normal wear and on reassembly did not work well. Come to find newer parts were needed. I would have it checked out before you have damage to other parts of the clutch or teansmission...jmo..

Do you think that's delaying engagement, and the engine rpms are getting a bit higher than the computer planned?

That's what it sounds like to me.
