New to Spyder, but riding for over 20+ years
Just found this site a short bit ago. Short bit of history and how I came to get a 2013 RT-S a few weeks ago now. Riding on some sort of bike since a kid and loved it. Switched to sportbikes in 2004. In 2009 an oncoming driver lost control of their car and hit me head on while I was riding. 200 ft through the air and 100 ft down an embankment left me a heap-o-broken bones by the side of the road. I was following my husband that day as we had ridden into the mountains for lunch and were just out enjoying a ride when disaster struck. Many horrific days after that in the struggle to recover, lots of surgeries and lots of metal implants. Titanium is a fantstic material. The goal to throw my leg over a bike again got my carcass out of a wheelchai. One year to the day I was struck, I was able to take a ride. That ride was the scariest of my life, but the sheer joy it brought made me realize I hadn't lost the ability to ride. It's been five years since then. I used to ride a CBR 600 but it was just too heavy to stand up, causing excrutiating pain so I let that go. I still have a ninja 250 becuase it's just fun and about the only sportbike I can stand up. This all led me to check out a spyder. After the test ride, I was sold and loving it. Thought I'd drop in and say hello. Looking forward to enjoying the new riding experience and really glad I can continue.

Enjoy your new Spyder and welcome to Spyder Lovers, there's a great bunch of people here. You'll find the Spyder different from a bike, but just as much fun in it's own way. Because of your injury, it may even be more fun because you can do it without pain.

I'm glad you have gotten back into the wind . . . and that you found Spyderlovers.

I have also been riding a long time (30 years), and just switched to a Spyder from a Honda ST1300. Have about 1,000 miles on it, and I'm working on getting my skill level up in the twisties. Rode a Spyder at Americade, and I was hooked. Hope to have many happy miles ahead of me.
