ST questions
I have a friend interested in a new Spyder - he want's an RT without the topcase. Since the nearest stealer is still a fair drive, I thought I'd ask this question on the forum for him.
"Is the ST an RT without the topcase, or is it more like the RS, with ergos tilted towards the younger/crotch rocket riders?"
Regardless, he'll probably stay in the shadows until the 15's, to see if the 1330 is offered....

The ST is sort of in the middle. Perhaps closer to the RT than the RS. I did not like the seating position on the RS. I did not find too much difference in the ST and the RT. The RT is a little more upright, but I do not have to lean forward to reach the bars on my ST.
Hope this helps.

Well..!!
it's that awkward middle of the road roadster. Depending on who judges it you get the more like RT or RS. In the end he will have to test them out and decide. I would not decide for him...that he should be on one I will recommend which one not so much...

A lot of the body panels are the same between the RS and ST. The seating position is very different. I like my ST limited

He liked my RT, with the Seal Floorboards - but hates the topcase.... Like me, he's tall, around 275#, and has iffy knees (still his tho....).
Personally, I hated the RS on longer rides, and loved the RT on the same - lean back and cruise comfortably.

I was lucky enough to be able to ride a 2014 RT Ltd for 300kms (200 miles almost) And it is definitely not slow!!!! And it was a lot more agile than I expected. Didnt make me want to buy one, but was suitably impressed with it.

It was a joke, as an ST owner it's my job to harass RTs.

The RT's looked a bit too bulky for me so I went with the ST.
You could get an ST and add a few things to get the storage like the RT's.

It is definitely different strokes for different folks. The only way of knowing for sure is to test drive and see how the ergos fit the driver.
I have had both the RS and the RT, but never been on a ST. The difference between RS and RT is like night and day. Have always been a fan of farkles, bags, and trunks. Like the plusher feel of the RT compared to the RS.
The ST came out to fill the place in between the two models. You get more RT with the ST than you do with the RS. Not everyone likes or uses a top trunk. I do not use it much--and it would be nice to have a quick release so that I can go from "electra glide" to "road king" when I want to.
PS: Flamewingers ST is AWESOME.
At the moment, if one wants the 1330 ACE, then the choices are limited to RT. That may change.
