Default Project Road Warrior and Spyder

    Hey everyone...

Wanted to send a note about a charity ride BRP is supporting involving wounded veterans.

It is called Project Road Warrior... http://www.projectroadwarrior.org/

BRP has donated several Spyders for the cause, which will see veterans ride from Seattle to Tampa Bay from June 5 to 14.

The route with stops is located here: http://www.projectroadwarrior.org/#!projects/c1yws

It is a great cause, and it is something I am excited to see it happen.

Just thought I would send the details so you could share it as I am sure there would be interest to hook up and ride with the participants at some of the stops -- in fact, that is encouraged. There is also a donation page if people want to support it.

This is the first year for the event, and I do hope it is not the last.

Here is what I ask, however... if any individuals or groups plan on riding a section, they must get in contact with Craig -- he is one of the main organizers. His e-mail is: craig@projectroadwarrior.org.

The reason being is they need to know if they will need traffic control along the route if a ton of people are going to show up that day. I would like to know as well, but it is essential that Craig is notified.

So, feel free to spread the word. It is a great cause and I am proud that BRP is supporting it.

Some folks told me about this at a rally last weekend. They knew someone who would be ryding a Spyder provided by the mfr. I forgot to tell them to have the ryders look us up on SpyderLovers, though. I'd like to hear about their experiences during the trip. I'm glad BRP is supporting such a worthy cause!

This is such a grand idea and I want to thank all those organizing this!

Started 2014 with a 2013 RT-S SE5. Wrecked it April 2019 with a 200lb hog! I am Blessed because if that was a two wheel motorcycle, DPS said without a shadow of a doubt I would have been dead! Thank you Can-Am! The issue I had with GIECO is they told me not to take anything off the Spyder when I brought it in to their claims center because they paid it out as a total. I just had ELKA put on all around and over $7,000 in Farkle that I am having to replace all that I could have taken off the '13. Bought a 2014 with only 3728 miles! Love it! My therapy!

That's fantastic. Kudos to BRP for their effort. Would your BRP guys like to migrate to Australia?

Donation made. Some of my Brotherhood members are Wounded Warriors. One was at Khobar Towers when the truck bomb went off. I have a two friends who are special operators. My brother suffers from PTSD and flashback from Viet Nam. I was there too. God Bless these folks with a great trip.

I'm watching ACM All Star Salute to the Troops. What a show.

Okay. You all are crazy! We thought we would have enough trouble finding 8 wounded veterans wanting to do this ride, but now it looks like everyone wants to do it. That is awesome. My name is Steve and I am one of the founders of Project Road Warrior. We want people to join us on the ride, but we need to make sure we have a plan in place. We just had a discussion with BRP today and we will be rolling out a "Join the Ride" plan soon (72 hours). We are being slightly secretive because we do not want to overload the venues when we arrive. Each stop is going to be a an event on its own and we don't want that event to be shutdown because of crowds. The route does have one change. We are replacing Breckenridge with Aspen, Co. One of our riders is on the Team USA Paralympic Ski Team and they really wanted us to come to Aspen. Here are some guidelines if you are thinking about joining the ride:

-We will be departing each stop around 8AM and arriving at each stop early evening. The goal is to ride during daylight.
-We are avoiding highways. This country has some awesome roads and we plan to take the scenic route. We will often be in very isolated locations. We have a support vehicle with extra provisions (fuel, food, tires), but we cannot support additional riders. Please plan accordingly.
-The plan is to establish rendezvous locations so folks can join for the final part of each leg. The average leg length is 390 miles per day.
-We will be cruising. This is not a race for us. We have 10 days of riding and plan on taking it at a comfortable speed.
-Some stops may be "overwhelmed" by everyone arriving at once. Please consider the Project Road Warrior Riders as we try to settle in to the stop. A few laps around town will allow us to get settled in.

Again, we want everyone to join us. We just have some logistics to consider. We are grateful by the amount of support that has come our way. It seems people in this great country do still care. We have an amazing sponsor with BRP. They are allowing us to use 9 Can-Am Spyder Roadsters and are providing protective gear for the riders. We do still have some cost to offset before this ride is over. Our goal is to raise another $9000 during the ride. This should cover expenses such as fuel, food and lodging. Our entire team consists of 12 people. That is a lot of people to support for 10 days. So if you like what we are doing, please donate. The easiest donation is online via PayPal. We are also selling t-shirts and stickers online. http://www.projectroadwarrior.org/#!donate/c9ak

Hello again folks. The preliminary details of the route are now on our website. Please, Please, Please double check the route with the PDF version of the route. We are finding that the Google map link can alter the route based on user preferences. We are also going to release a spreadsheet that shows our departure times and estimated arrival times. Here are the route details: http://www.projectroadwarrior.org/#!route-detail/couk 12 days! Here's to the crazy ones.

    Thanks,
    Project Road Warrior (Steve)

P.S. Thanks to all of the support. This is our first-ever event and we want this to become an annual event. Please spread the word.

we were told that they would be leaving Jacksonville, FL between 9-930am

some of us are going up to JAX the night before the ride day and spending the night (there may be something going on with the Project the night before like a dinner or something)

hope to see as many Florida Riders participating as possible

This is amazing! Good job to all who put this together! I wish I could attend but the dates just do not work for me this year. Maybe next year! Where can I donate?
