My question: Why?
Because of the distortion. No matter how minor the distortion is, it can affect your decision making, in a tight or almost crash situation this minor difference can make a difference between ryding away, or being rolled away on a gurney. The purpose of the wind screen is to push the air over the top of your hea. The optimum adjustment is where you are sitting naturally and the top of the wind screen is just below your line of sight while looking straight ahead. If your Spyder doesn't have a wind screen up-down adjustment on the handle bar, you need a shorter wind screen.

...in the pink (Girls On Spyders)
My ST had distortion as you were riding in curves...I look over the shield...but in curves there is that few seconds and all is distorted...drove me crazy...I ordered a extra wide medium shield from Cal-Sci ...love it

Windsheld distortion
Thanks for the input guys and gals. You can sign me up for a visor wiper also.

Thinks out loud
Crank it up a notch!
If your head is behind the windshield in the twisties. You're riding to slow!
Identify what you have control over and find peace with what you don't.

I think those of you who are trying to peer through your windshields are missing the point. They are not normally designed to be looked through. Why? Because it's dangerous with no washers or wipers. Even a splash from a muddy puddle can leave you blinded. So, whilst you may be able to see through some windscreens passably, they aren't designed to be looked through. It's not a design fault, just a lack of appreciation of what they are designed to do; flip air and rain etc. over your head.
And, incidentally, your visor does have a wiper - your left hand!
