    Default Hawks and recalls

Began riding again after knee replacement. Have ridden early the last three mornings about 100 miles each day. MPG is down from 32 to 30 after the 2013-9 recall. Still shakes on starting off in reverse or forward. No noticeable difference in heat reduction.

Also installed new adjustable wind deflectors from BRP. No noticeable difference there either. Guess I am batting two for zero.

Side note: Three days ago I hit a Red Tailed Hawk in Tucson on Ajo Road. I was going 45MPH and never saw the Hawk. It was not on the road but came from the side. It hit the right side of the windshield then hit the right side of my helmet. No damage to the windshield or myself other than I was stunned, I pulled over thinking someone had thrown something at me when I noticed the Hawk. He fumbled around a bit on the ground and then flew off. Never saw it until impact.
All my life I wanted to be somebody, now I realize I should have been more specific.

Tough break on the Hawk, but glad you're ok. A buddy of mine was going across Texas and took a Turkey Vulture to the windshield at 70 mph on a two wheeler. He didn't go down, but he said it really made a mess out of the front of his bike.

Sorry to hear that the service bulletins haven't helped your heat issues. Glad to hear that you're back to riding! As for the hawk, I would have had a heart attack if that had been me. I do not like birds but they seem to be attracted to me.

    Default Good news..bad news..good news..!!

glad your back the the knee replacement is working well. Sorry the updates and mods you've made has not helped much. Glad you and the hawk managed to only bump path and are both no worse for the wear..these birds are getting braisen. We have had one dive at a rider and one came from our side dropping lower as he got near us. Could have reached up and plucked a tail feather...be safe out there..!!
