Default Found an inexpensive way to have GPS ball mount on 2014 RT Dash top

I started with a RAM Mount Part number: RAM-B-272U for $13.00 available from a variety of online stores.

    http://www.rammount.com/CatalogResul...5/Default.aspx

    RAM-B-272.jpg

Then bought a 3 pack of M5-80x20 Stainless Screw for $.62 from lowes: http://www.lowes.com/pd_424648-37672...4757855&rpp=32

Then I decided that I wanted to cover up the stainless screw so I bought a 2 pack of the black plastic caps: http://www.lowes.com/pd_137945-37672...3012661&rpp=32

You will also need a washer to match which I already had in my collection to put between the plastic cap and the screw.

    Here is the finalized product.

Here is the finalized product mounted on my 2014 Spyder.

Figured I would post this to help people do this their selves and save some money on putting a Ram mount on their 2014 Spyder RT's! Total cost is under $15 or if you wanted to put two of them on it would be less than $30.

Question: How close does the windshield get to it, in it's lowest position?

I have the F4 custom Sport Wide windshield with vent and there is plenty of clearance still.

on the left is a 7" x-grip for my iPad mini that I only use on long trips to act as my GPS
    center is the GoPro mount

Thank you for this! By chance do you know if this will work with the stock shield? Also,. could you measure the height that you have between the bolt and shield on the side that has nothing done to it? Also, include highest raised setting and lowest. Would like to see the clearance from your F4 and stock.

    Thanks!!!

The more I think about this you honestly could get an extender arm from RAM mounts which would bring whatever you're mounting towards you a bit.

Thank you for this post. And including all the hardware part numbers that you used. Very helpful and cost saving.

Default Did mod on my 2014, thanks.

Well I ordered 2 of the mirror mounts with part number from dealer and they were not quite the same. In stalled them complete with black cap but they were up higher. They did not hamper windshield in any way but I wanted them lower. So I cut them down and drilled new hole for m50 bolts. Good to go now! Thanks for info.
