    Question Help needed!! PLEASE!!!

Has anyone changed the rear light bulbs?
If so is there any way it can be done without stripping out the
side panels and taking a serious amount of time?
I removed the under tray (7x T30 Torx screws and managed to wiggle out the right hand side
lamp holder but all attempts at re-fitting have produced no result other than much swearing !
I could have fitted some after market lights in less time, and I have very small hands for a guy.

    Default YES

    YES..... i have....
when you speak of REAR LIGHT BULBS.... i hope you are talking about the RS lights and NOT the RT's.....
on the RS, everything is simple compared to the RT....
1 screw on each light housing to be removed, replace bulb, and return lens to housing, and tighten screws....

    hope this helps...

    Hi OJ,
got a basic factory wasp ( small job ) tail or the one with backrest ( not a big big job yet not a small either ) ?
Personally, whatever i do on the back, i take off side panels with under tray attached as a one piece - it's fastest that way both to strip the back and do the work, also put it back together. This way its only last centre screw to be removed and side panels which i only loosen two screws from mid panel and pull away enough to reach single screw holding back panel, pop two plastic studs under the seat and you're done, repeat on other side and slide/pull towards back entire tail. I know it's not helpful to you now since you already took 7 screws from under tray off but i believe it helps in the future.
Lordy, just a stone throw away from you

    Default Rear lights

I was doing a lot of "custom" work and fitting a sports rack and back rest on my ST and had all the back stripped down so I decided it was a good time to change the rear lights for the Custom Dynamics LED converted tail lights, I know this doesn't answer your question, but it should at least save me from having the same problem as you are in the future.

    Default Let's see..!!

If you installed the rear rack and backrest assembly from brp without cutting the light housing..no..there was a thread to the effect and showed how to do it. I did not either saw that thread to late and face the same problem should they go out...good luck...

+1 on shaving/dremeling the housings. Only way to do it IMO, especially if you have the sport rack.

Thumbs up Well off I go to the garage .....

......to reappraise the job at hand! No Dremel here....in fact no power in the garage unless I fire up my generator!
I think I'll be looking at unleashing the cutters to gain reasonable access as I have both the BRP backrest and the
BRP side cases fitted......It rankles a little as I do not like chopping stuff about! Ah well...such is life!
At least it's sunny, dry and around 58 degrees. Wish me luck!

Thanks for all the advice! I'm sure it will all be OK (ish) in the end!

Default replacing tail light bulb, oh crap

    Hi all
I to had the misfortune to have to replace the light bulb on the left rear tail light
last fall.... I am sure now that the people who design this stuff have not or will ever
work on them, Go look under the hood of your car, where the hell is the engine its
    under all that plastic someplace.
my 2008 GS has the sport rack and as I found this is no simple job, something that
should take a very few min can take a couple of hours, it crazy they could have made the
lens removable and reach in and replace the light bulb but NO .... lets make it as hard
    as possible so they did.
    Just saying....

I have not had to replace mine yet and I don't have a sport rack but since I love taking new things apart when I got my bike did have them out to look into Led bulbs for them and I think I had to pull the side panels off , didn't take the tail pan off but did take all the side screws out of the pan to get the side cover off.

    Cool Success!!

    Yep!! All done!
Didn't remove anything except the under tray.
Cut the superfluous plastic away from the light unit with a junior hacksaw blade set into
a small file handle and then set about it with a half- round file....smoothed it off and Bob's your uncle!
It took me a while to get the correct alignment for fitting the lamp holder but I did it.
I'll do the other side when that bulb fails!
