Default Sena SMH-10 pairing with new Harley trike. Any luck?

    Hi gang,
I have a friend with a new Harley trike that has bluetooth. We couldn't get the Harley to even see the Sena device. Have you been successful?
    Ride safe!

Have you updated the firmware ? Up till a few weeks ago , sena could not conect to all blue tooth systems. Latest update fixed that .

I should have mentioned I had updated to v5 firmware. Good catch.

However, just 3 days ago a newer version 5.0.1 was posted. Here's the info.

Change made from version 5.0 to 5.0.1

    • Improved compatibility with Bluetooth GPS devices
    • Minor bug fixes in sidetone, Universal Intercom™, 3-way conference intercom, and GPS device

    I'll give it a try.

Have you tried it with >v5.0 firmware on the Sena?

I've heard their support is good so I'll call them if I can't get it to work. I'm going to update to 5.0.1 tonight and I'll see my Harley trike buddy this weekend to try it out.

Plan B is to try these Motorola GMRS/FRMS bluetooth radios with VOX. So in theory, we each pair to one radio and off we go. Just thought I'd mention it in case someone is looking at ways to communicate.

I think Walmart might carry them, which would make it easy to return if it doesn't work.

Update: After updating the Sena to v5.0.1 firmware I was off to my friends house to pair with his harley. Well, it didn't work. The Harley is just locked down (not that I'm surprised) and won't see the waiting Sena. I might try the Motorola bluetooth fmrs radios I mentioned in an earlier post. Still got in a nice 180 mile ride!
