    Default Plasti-Dip Your Byke

So has anyone tried plasti-dip on their byke? I'm considering giving mine a nice blue paint job but I'd like to know it's at least going to look okay and hold up for the season.

    Default looks good

but not very durable if its an area that gets a lot of wear. i'm going to do my silver panels in satin black as soon as weather and time permit.
it was fun while it lasted.

I did the silver brackets that hold the windshield. Sprayed on easy with minimum of running. Looked a bit lumpy at first but dried smooth.

This is something that I will be trying out soon.

I have 5 spray cans of Daytona Yellow, and will be painting my rims (fronts and back) and my helmet.

Pictures of my progress will be posted - this will be at least a month from now or longer. This is because I am going to a different employer and need to learn my new job - making jet engine parts, the ones that spin at high speeds in the engine.

Depending on the shape of the parts and the location it is a great alternative to paint or even a wrap
if you want just a solid color.

The great thing is you do not have to tape around lights or emblems since the product makes a clean
edge when you pull it off after drying. It's best to do multiple light coats and let them dry between coats
    rather than 1 thick coat.

Now they are offering more color options and pearlizers and gloss coats so the options are growing as well.

IMG_2235.jpgSame as FB's.... I did it myself when I installed TricLED's LED reflector fenderlights and turnsignal harness. You will need to add 2-3 coats. As uflyer says, it lumps at first but it dries like it needs to. Been on for 4-5K miles and no chipping. When you wash, make sure you use low pressure on them, I had to correct them so it comes out with a pressure washer (and it took a good while too). I did the windshield bracket and arms, the chrome "Can-Am" on the side service panels, the trailer rims and they all look good (I'll add the pictures later, they are on my phone and cannot use it at work).

Yes I did and love this stuff. I can't believe I haven't heard about it sooner in life as it could have saved me a ton of paint troubles. Here is the thread I started on it. The pieces are all holding up real well but going to do a couple of them over again as my first piece sorta ran. The key to doing a good job is the first coat do very lightly and then do like 4 additional coats allowing 25-30 minutes drying time in-between.

Look up ALSA corp .com they have a water base spray like this in many colors I just got some but haven't used it yet. They have some killer paints. I spent hours on the site the first time sooooooo much to look at.

Dude, How do you keep the coating from tearing when you remove the masking tape and the coating has coated both?

I did the front of my '14 today in black....the white colored tupperware section between the two radiator intakes, to include that shiny black piece on the bottom. Put 4 coats on and it came out really well. Very little over-spray on sections not masked and the over-spray wiped off easily with paint thinner on a rag. I used a hair dryer to hasten drying between coats; maybe 10 min between.

No idea how well this will hold up as that section gets all the bugs and road debris. Time will tell, but its so easy to do over if needed.

The only place locally I found it was a hardware store and it was $10 a can.

Remove the masking tape right away after the last coat is applied. Waiting 2 or 3 minutes is too long.

Yeah or the other option is to use a razor blade and cut at the seems. I also did the front brushed chrome pieces on the frunk and was a pain.

Also Lowes sells Plasti-dip in the tool section (not the paint area) and it is $5.49 a can. Ask an associate as they sell a ton of it but may only stock the flat black.

Thanks for the feedback. Will check my local Lowes as this stuff is almost too much fun not to put on! Totally unlike regular spray painting where it drifts and runs all over.......

I've used plasti-dip on my Camaro for years both inside and out. Even plastidipped my wheels last year. Stuff is well nye indestructable when applied correctly. For videos and tips, go to dipyourcar.com I'm not a paid spokesman for DYC, just a long time customer.

    Default windshield

Have used the dip on different parts of the spyder and love it except for the areas that get scuffed by my feet but easy to repair.

Next project I'm going to do is the windshield frame and get rid of the ugly aluminum look. Also plan on painting those two little pieces of windshield that get extremely filthy but are a PIA to clean. Just have to figure a way to mask them off and keep inside the lines.
