It took me awhile to get up the nerve to cut the seat pan but when I started it was quite easy

I pulled just enough staples loose from the seat cover to pull the cover out of the way to cut the seat pan with my dermal tool
I did not cut the foam or the cover as they are the hinge
I used Velcro to hold it closed but I am thinking of using a magnetic latch
I believe it is invisible when closed as the pictures show
I like the way it works so that if I have things bungeed on my back seat I can fill up without taking everything off the seat
The 2014 seat does not have the oval insert as the earlier models did so this was what I can up with
I did not want a large metal gas door next to my leg

Maybe it's just the picture but it doesn't look like there is quite enough room to get the gas nozzle in, especially in Ca. where we have those huge rubber gizmos around the nozzle for fume evacuation/recycling ?

    There is room
I could have made it larger but at the time I did not know the seat pan wound work this easy because it is not flat
Here in California the nozzle goes in at an angle
    Live and learn
I do not use it every time. Only when things are bungeed on the seat
I usually fill in Nevada anyway [cheaper]

You did a good job of fooling us. Very good work.

I do think its time for BRP to make a gas door as a part of the seat. I know--its not necessary, and we should all get off the to refuel. I have to get off every 50 miles or so, anyway.

It's just a suggestion for a convenience item, that IMO, a lot of people would like.

This would be easy to do on any Spyder seat
Since you do seats it would be easy to do before you cover it

My Missus is VERY impressed... , and is considering the modification for ours; she just would like to see just exactly what needs cutting first!
