Default I feel like my 2012 RT is now obsolete

With all of the posts and pictures of everyone's 2014 with all of the fabulous changes, I feel like I might as well just leave my 2012 in the garage. Seriously, I wish I had the money right now to buy a 2014. I also don't put enough miles on the current RT to justify changing it. I suppose when and if the weather in Pa gets better I will feel better about the machine.

I have not been on here much recently, but wondered what the real world differences in terms of MPG, Range, heat issues and so forth are between the 2012 and 2014s?

By the way, I am sure this topic has been addressed many times, but with my lack of participation on the board I missed them.

Heat is no longer an issue.
    Range is around 220 miles
MPG most reports are in the 34 range

That being said, as fine a machine as the 2014 is turning out to be by most reports the 2012 RT is still a fine machine IMHO.

The best in the world . . . is the one I own. I can ride it when I want! When I try riding a 2014 , the owner's keep calling the cops !

Just look at it this way - This time next year those that purchased the 1st 2014 Models may see some upgrades to the 2015 Model and they will feel some of you pain also

As for me I Like Roger am still running my 2010 RT-S SE-5 Spyder it is doing all I need it to do at the present time mileage is just below 15,000 and I have no plans to change it for at least 18 months

The only problem we have in the UK is we are now down to 2 main dealers for the whole of the UK having lost 3 in the last 2 yrs and BRP have not appointed any new one's yet

I will decide if I will purchase another Can-Am Spyder I like the product but want to be assured we will have dealer back up should things go wrong

    I did that today!

I rode my Model-T, I mean 2008 GS to work in sub-freezing temps this morning. If the 14s are putting all previous Spyders out to pasture, then I'm going to be out in that pasture having a great time!

My hardest decision is which of my totally out-dated Spyders I'm going to thoroughly enjoy each day! Maybe it will be the comfort of my 2012 RT-S LTD tomorrow...or maybe another ride on the obnoxiously loud GS...

Number One: 2008 Yellow GS SM5. I love my Spyder.
Number Two: 2012 RT-S Limited (the poop colored RT) I still have Number One, but Some Girl made me buy Number Two...

How many miles, has your 2012 cheerfully carried you?
I'm sure that it's got many more such miles; just waiting for you!

I bought the 14 because my 2011 was plagued with problems other wise I would not have spend the money. Yes, they get a bit better gas mileage but the extra $18K I paid would have bought a lot of gas lol...The power wise I really don't notice a bid difference but my 2011 was quieter. Your not obsolete, just a different generation.

When Louise wanted an RT-S a few months ago, we had to decide 13 or 14. Bought our second 2013.

We feel we got 98% of what the 2014 offers for about 2/3 the price. Oh, and the fact that the 2014s don't come in any decent colors (namely blue) sealed the deal.

Both of our 13s run great and are a blast to drive. Heck, did well over 200 miles yesterday enjoying the Texas bluebonnets on a picture perfect blue sky day.

There is the truth less than 10hp and 10 lbs of torque separate them. The 998 is a proven engine and the 1330 is not. I expect to see more issues with it. I will ride mine until the 1330 is proven bulletproof maybe 2015 or 16. I like a challenge and I am sure my 13 will keep up with a 14 even if I have to make 1 or 2 more stops for gas. I am ready for a leg stretch after a tank full anyway I came from the Corvette crowd and the same thing happened each generation got better but I still like the C4 over the C5,C6 and C7. Just because you have deep pockets and are willing to take a big hit in trade in does not make anything better. JMHO

I have a 2012 RT I bought May of last year.

Does it have the bells and whistles of the 2013 or 2014? Nope.

    Still a fun ride though.
