    Default Boots...Need New Boots

I wrecked my boots. Thankfully I was not in them at the time. I was cooking up a batch of champagne chicken salad for 60 people and I spilled a GALLON of mayonnaise based sauce into my boots...it was a mess and the boots are ruined.

So I need new boots. I am looking for recommendations. Harness or engineer, work boots or motorcycle. I like boots that have at least an8" top. It insulates my right foot and ankle from the BRP hot foot.

What are your recommendations and why?

I only have alpinestars boots and the pair I use on Spyder is alpinestars tech touring gore tex. One of the most comfortable boots I have ever worn, been in many rainy rides and my feet always stay dry.

I'm ordering a pair of Danners tomorrow. We may have the world's busiest airport, but you can't buy squat here. Has to be ordered.

Corcoran 1944, if you can still find them. I have had mine for 4 years and 60,000 Spyder miles and still as good as new. I have also been wearing them the last 2.5 years at my job...8 hours a day walking the casino floor. If the 1944 is no longer made, any Corcoran is good. Mine are 100% water proof and VERY comfortable.

Most comfortable boots I've ever had are Hathorn Ranch Packer from White's Boots, http://www.whitesboots.com/index.php. You send them several measurements of your feet and they make boots to fit. The White brand are custom made also and can be rebuilt. My brother had a couple pairs that he had rebuilt 2 or 3 times. I think he had the two pairs for maybe 30+ years!

    Default Thorogood

I bought a pair of Thorogood boots over 3 years ago and they've held up extremely well in over 30,000 miles of riding and still look good too. Mine have laces and a side zipper.

    Default Cruiserworks Boots

I have a pair of Cruiserworks boots, they have been good boots and been with me for 4 motorcycles and 2 Spyders. They have held up well and resoled once at the factory. www.cruiserworks.com I would get another pair if they got mayo on them.

I wear Bates Leathers custom boots, made to tracings and measurements of my skinny feet. Actually, they are quite reasonably priced.

Sidi boots. Goretex lining, waterproof all day long. Easily rebuilt, made for riding motorcycles. Good for walking around. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. Tom

Boots are like seats on . We are all going to have a preference.

My favorite boots are my oldest. A basic pair of engineer/harness boots. They are so broke in, that I can put them on with one hand--they just slide on. Had them resoled last year--and they will now outlast me. Paid about $69 for them--todays price about $149.

Also have one additional pair in brown--with zipper in the side--same kind of cost.

Went exotic about 5 years ago and added a pair of SIDI waterproofs. I wear those if I am expecting to be out in the rain.

Don't throw away the mayo boots. Use them as a marinade in your next salad.

I second the vote for Cruiserworks boots . They are very comfortable and weather proof. Not a cheap boot but very well made. Many different styles.

    Default Riding Boots

I bought my Can-Am riding boots from Honda East last year. Waterproof and comfortable and much cheaper than buying from BRP.

I have had mine about 12 years or so and resoled once. Completely waterproof (have worn in four hour rains) comfortable to walk around in and don't look dorky. If I ruined them, would buy another pair in a heartbeat .

Try them on at a dealer so you know the right size (they are pretty true to size) then search eBay to get a better price. There are currently 26 listings from $69.00.
