Thread: Ugh!

    Default Ugh!

    Seems like if there's a problem/defect with the , I have it. Here's a rundown:

    - Squeaky brakes
    - Oil leaking down my radiator
    - Excessive break dust on my rims
    - Sticky parking brake
    - Side fairing doesn't secure properly
    - Front of radiator fairing is dinged up

    Oh, and she continues to suck the money right outta my wallet.

    Seeing so many other Spyders yesterday helped to make me feel a little better as I know I'm not the only one suffering from these problems.

    Squeaky brakes here and there is this hideous moan that occurs when pushing the machine backwards. No more chain lube fling, but rear rim builds up dust in the center and the right groove. Body panels ok, but Arizona has a problem with rocks and glass...one of my projector lenses is chipped. Had the parking brake problem, but lube at the foot mechanism solved that. As for dings in fairings...looks way better than any sportbike I have had for any length of time...front wheel acts like a sandblaster.

    we all wanted first production ....we all pay .... i said it with computers and cell phones ... but i couldn't wait .... and i'm still happy even with a couple issues

    I hope the dealer is addressing these...

    - Squeaky brakes (Isn't BRP addressing this?)
    - Oil leaking down my radiator
    - Excessive break dust on my rims (brake dust is fairly common)
    - Sticky parking brake
    - Side fairing doesn't secure properly
    - Front of radiator fairing is dinged up (If you purchased it this way, it should be covered under warranty)

    - Squeaky brakes BRP Interim fix has helped but not cured the problem
    - Oil leaking down my radiator No fix yet though I think Lamont posted a solution awhile back. Still have to find it...
    - Excessive break dust on my rims Buying black trim kit
    - Sticky parking brake BRP fix next in 2 weeks for my 10k checkup
    - Side fairing doesn't secure properly No fix
    - Front of radiator fairing is dinged up This will happen over time on ALL

    Wives tend to do this... moreso as time progresses and parts fail. (or fall !)

    Oil leaking - not covered under warranty?!
    Side fairing doesn't secure properly - that isn't covered, either? That's not right.

    Why is oil leaking from the oil cooler (hopefully not the radiator) and where???

    Overall, I'm very happy... but,
    - Rear brake squeals like a garbage truck being violated
    - Brake dust EVERYWHERE
    - I adjusted my Front Shocks to 5. Followed directions to adjust the Rear Shock before taking my Wife out as a passenger. Bent the 3/8 socket wrench. I gotta show a pic of this to all of you, so much for Made in China, VERY funny! Then used a 3/8 (10") extension and bent the flange on the shock... not so 'in funny and didn't/couldn't change the setting of the rear shock from 3 to 5. I can't believe (a) the shock adjustment is designed the way it is and (b) it's that darn hard to adjust.

    Whew, okay, I feel better now

    Did you jack up the rear of the Spyder and let the rear tire just hang? That removes some of the pressure on the rear shock spring and lets you adjust it easier.

    That 'Made in China' stuff is mostly junk. There are more reasons than the labor costs as to why it is cheaper than things 'Made in...' USA, Taiwan, Korea. They use about the cheapest raw materials and then skimp on them on top of that. At work, I dread getting a replacement part for some broken equipment and seeing the 'Made in China' label, even if its replacing something that was made in Korea. From identical manufacturers with identical part numbers, the chinese stuff last 1/4 as long as items made in any other country.
