REAR TRUCK MOUNTING
SORRY TITTLE SHOULD HAVE READ: REAR TRUNK MOUNTING
I was wondering.
As anyone ever mounted a rear trunk directly to the the mounting plate, located behind the passenger.

This is the mounting plate that comes with the box.

It has been done. It is a little wiggly, and the lid attachment "hooks" are prone to breakage, even without the added stress of a trunk. It was suggested that you back up the attaching bolts with large fender washers or fabricated backing plates. I'm not sure what you would search for, but several owners have done this.

Yes, it has been done by several owners. The trunk can be a little wiggly, but it works. The "hooks" tha attach the lid are prone to breakage even without the added stress of a trunk, so future repairs may be needed. Some owners got ahead of the game by reinforcing the OEM attachment points with epoxy and metal. It is recommended that you also reinforce the bolts you use to attach the trunk with large fender washers or fabricated plates. That die-cast lid just isn't that strong without a little help. I'm not sure what you would search for, but there are likely several threads on this modification.
