Amsoil & Hi-Flo filters from Bajaron. I get more than the recommended intervals (around 5,000 miles) and engines are running smooth with great shifting!

Overpriced BRP oil? The kit comes all in one box with 5 quarts of oil, filter, and orings/washers for $55. Thats like $7 a quart. The extra oil also comes in handy for top offs and to just have some around....just sayin'.

They made the same recommendation on the 08 GS and every one since then. I have used the motorcycle 10w-40 Amsoil since 09.

Statistics show that most motorcycle accidents are caused by a defective nut holding the handlbars.

I used Amzoil for awhile but the tech that works at the best dealership in the NW has told me that - if it were him, he recommends sticking to BRP AND forgo the full syn. The semisyn is almost 100% syn, is much less expensive and lasts well at to the recommended change interval. I have changed back to BRP. I may send some out after next change and have it tested.

I think you will find with proper used oil analysis that neither of these statements are true. Its been shown that the semisyn BRP oil and most all non synthetics will not maintain viscosity rating for 4600 miles in this or many other engines. If the semi were nearly all full synthetic, its used oil properties would be much closer to that of a full syn. Its not. It breaks down significantly as soon as 1500 miles and is pretty far gone by 3000. Good enough? Maybe but that's not what your tech represented.

There are several name brand API certified full synthetics out there that work very well and hold viscosity for the full change interval.

Larry, do send off a sample. I'd be particularly interested to see how BRP oil fares. I've tested Amsoil, Valvoline Syn, and Castrol Actevo Blend, in my previous '11 RT, and NONE held anywhere near a 40W viscosity at 3000 miles. Like JT said above, 10-40 breaks down fast. It would be great if these engines were certified to use 20-50 like a great many motorcycles as that weight oil does hold up.

I have seen three oils tested, Amsoil Valvoline and Mobil full-syn motorcycle oil. They all had good reports and that's at over 6,500 miles oil the oil. Usually when viscosity is low in oil in 3,000 miles there is an engine problem. One is excessive blow by or engine is running rich (to much gas) or the engine is not breathing (crankcase vent blocked). These are the big three, but there other things that cam do it. Even BRP Blended oil tested good a 3,000 miles. I use Amsoil it's cheaper, comes to my doorstep, and it's made in the USA. That's IMHO.
