Spyder Dealer will not sell non OEM tires
I've contacted three dealers here in central Florida to get a replacement tire for my OEM tire
which needs replacing at 7,000 miles. None of them will replace with non OEM tires, a
Kumho Ecsta AST for example. The local Sears can order and have the Kumho here in a week,
but will not install. Any suggestions?

All the dealers I have spoken with also will not sell or install tires that are not oem. I believe it has to do with them not being held responsible for anything that may happen due to the tires

Last fall, with 7000 miles, I had to replace my rear tire. My local dealer had me sign a waiver (written on the receipt) saying they would not be responsible if anything happened. I agreed and they changed it with the tire I brought in (Kumho Ecsta AST). They charged me $83.00 OTD.

A few years back I took a Kumho tire and my rear wheel from my Goldwing to a dealer to get the tire replaced, I got looks from him that you would have thought I just asked to take out his daughter! Got a big NO and asked it I was nuts putting a car tire on a Goldwing. I got it done elsewhere and rode that tire for many many miles!
Sold my 14 RTS went back to 2 wheels.

After speaking with a few dealers this is the case for most.

I took mine off and took it to Sam's Club where I ordered the tire. They mounted it no problem but couldn't balance it. I took it to a motorcycle shop and they balanced it. About 8000 miles later, still looks like new

It is not uncommon. There are also automotive tire dealers that will not mount tires marked for motorcycle use. It is their prerogative. I used another motorcycle dealer, that had a machine large enough to mount and balance the Spyder rims. Ask around, or better yet take the tire and wheel around. Someone will be able to accomodate you.

Also in the camp where the dealer will not install anything but OEM tires. They don't have the proper machine either, so take the tire and rim down the road to a tire dealer.
I am in a bad position. I have no problem taking the front tires off the , but the rear tire is beyond my mechanical comfort zone. If we have now entered the era of the 7,000 mile tire usage for , I am thinking something will have to change.
