    Default 13's,14's engine performance?

Can some one who has owned both a 08-12 GS/RS tell me how they like the engine performance compared to the 13&14's? Are the top speeds much different because of the 6hp or does the added torque make up for it in the newer engine package?

Maybe, but don't believe everything you read. We know for a fact that the early GS/RS weighs considerably more than the advertised weight. Nobody has posted an actual weight for the later version. My guess is that it's a wash.

This is my 4th spyder. Started with a 2008 GS, then 2011 RSS and 2013 STS. I can tell you this 2014 RTS is amazing for performance including at high speeds. So smooth running and shifting! Just amazing the improvements.

The spyderfest drag races are going to be interesting this year!

Since its a claimed "fact" Please post up proof that the early GS/RS weighs more than the advertised weight. Thanks!

DocDoru posted his weight slips here a number of years ago.

    And? Wet? Dry? Details?

Its not all that hard to believe that the 13'+ machines are heavier. Bigger wheels, bigger brakes, more electronics. The newer frame is noticeably bulkier when seen stripped down side by side vs the old one.

Agreed. Seems like the 13' heft was closer to 30lbs with the RT and would be a bit more of a change with the RS.

    Still a considerable weight gain.

It almost sounds as if you should go get your bike weighed...

It is not uncommon for manufacturers to 'Fib' a bit on weight. If you don't want to be disappointed, don't have your ride weighted, regardless of brand or model...

If you thought that we lie a lot about our own weight; you can't believe what "tall tales", the maketing folks come up with...

And what would be the point of comparing a stated dry weight to one wet?

Fact: 08'-12' are the lightest in their model designation. 13'+ are considerably heavier across the entire model line. 14' RT is a whale... What more do you want to know?....

The question is, How are the owners of these 1330s gonna react when they still can't keep up with the
    RSS?

    Yeah, I said it .

    Just sayin............

Yeah I think we are going to see a little bit of a difference with the new 1330 engines. Even being heavier I think they are going to kick the RSS's butts!

Here is something to chew on. Based on the 2014 reviews, I expect the 2014 time is going to be very close to the 2011 posted time. No, the RT is not going to hang with the RSS since it is a completely different animal. Just like a GoldWing is never going to run with a CBR1000.

    Default performance not weight

Maybe I worded it wrong. Will the currently rated 100 HP 80 lbs torque motor feel the same in the 13/14 RS or RS S when accelerating to pass or see the same top end as previous 08-12 GS/RS with the higher 106 HP.I want to replace my 08 GS and would like to know if I should get a 12 or a 13 or possibly wait to see whats coming for the RSS.

Honestly, I'd bet the power difference is not even noticeable between the 08-12 and the 13+ RS. Its just fun to razz the RT guys a bit.
Personally, unless your having issues, or just have that "itch" that needs scratching, I'd hold on to what you have. There really just weren't all that many drastic changes to make the jump.

I can't tell the difference between my 2008 GS and anything newer. They all look alike to me.
