Default 12 volt acc. plus in the rear trunk... question?

Did I not read somewhere you can swap a fuse and make that plug live all the time? How bout the one in the frunk can it be made live all the time to?

I don't know what is wrong with my 2013 RT-S. When the latest service bulletin was being done I asked the tech to move the fuse in #6 to #7, since he was in the area with the fuse box upgrade. Told me that the fuse was already in #7 and the #6 fuse spot wasn't connected to anything. The 12 volt outlet is only hot when the key is turned on and the fuse is in the #7 spot. I have no idea what is going on. The service guy said he would call BRP but I doubt this will get done. Checked 1 wk later and he hadn't called yet.

First, I would check the fuse for myself. Dealers make mistakes. Second, in light of the fact that your dealer has not contacted BRP, I would contact BRP Customer Care and open a case file for the problem. They can then inform your dealer on how to address the issue. Let us know how things turn out.

I was also just asking about this task...
    Thanks Lamont!
Seeing how easy it is to accomplish, has given me new ideas...
Pop it over into #7 for Winter storage (Battery Tender Hookup...)
Back to #6 for the riding season. (XM Onyx plugged in for the riding season!)

Just FYI, moving the fuse powers BOTH frunk and trunk outlets.

    Default Both the same.

For you RT folks on the 2013s and I think the 2014s both the 12V outlets, (the one in the trunk and the optional one in the frunk) are on the same circuit. So if the fuse is position 6, both are switched. If the fuse is in position 7 both are always on.

For ST folks, since they share the same wiring harness as the RT there should be an unused 12v accessories source in the tail that could be used for Farkles.

Did you follow up my questions in the other thread about this? http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/s...225#post757225

There are only four possibilities to cause your problem, that I can see; 1) the fuse is bad, 2) the technician goofed, 3) the wiring harness has a defect, or 4) an older fuse box without this feature was used in building your machine.

Push the tech to get this figured out. If you want to use the feature, you have a right to have it available, per manufacturing specifications.

It is most likely in the connector into which the rear light harness plugs into. One would have to add one or two pins to the connector, or tap into the 12 volt line ahead of the connector. If anyone really wants to know I can look on the wiring diagrams to find it.

Could the tech has confused the right, and left buse boxes?
(What does the left one look like; underneath all of the covers?)

Well ain't that wild the service manual uses the same picture for both the left and right fuse box.

I have had the #6 fuse moved to the #7 so the power outlet in the trunk is powered on with the key in the off position on my 2014 Limited. This makes it very easy to plug in the trickle charger.

Here you are. The only real difference to look at them are the fuse and relay positions that are not used.

I can see AlEverett's technician's problem right now. He was looking at the left fuse box and counting from right to left (looking at the box)! That fuse position is not used. Nothing like looking at the wrong box and counting fuse positions the wrong direction!

Not unless you have something plugged into it that stays live all the time. But the battery will run down in relatively short order anyway. There's enough stuff in the system that stays hot the battery will run down in a month's time even with the key turned off.

I have a Battery Bug connected to mine. The battery drops from 12.4 volts to 12.0 in about a week. When my Spyder was delivered in November it had not been run for about a month. The battery was so low it wouldn't start the bike.

I think your right. It matches the facts we have. Not a problem with the Spyder. It's a problem with the left, right challenged Tech!!
