Power steering on RTS
Being that this is my first spyder. How much Power assist am I suppose to get at a dead stop. I takes some muscle to turn the bars if you are sitting
at a dead stop. I can turn them but my wife can not.
Thanks

I had a 2013 RT-Limited, and I don't think that it turned as easily as my 2014 RT-Limited. This new one seems to turn much easier, I was never really sure if the power assist even worked on the 2013. It was of little concern to me as it was not so hard to turn the bars that it was a problem. I know this is not much help, but if you don't think it is working properly, I would take it back to the dealer and talk with the Service Manager and maybe they can check it out for you.

Here's the thing..!!
if not running or moving it is not that easy to turn. I have found moments it seem to not be working but never when driving...you should have it checked could need some adjustment...

Locate the fuse for the DPS and pull it. Start the bike up and compare the steering feel with the fuse removed vs installed.
Removing the fuse will give you a warning on the dash but will go away once the fuse is put back in
Obviously, do all your fuse work with everything shut down.

I have had the opposite experience. I find that the 2014 is much harder to turn when stopped than any of my other Spyders. I am talking about turning the handlebars to lock them. I attributed it to the heavier weight of the 2014.

Steering assist is based on:
Battery Voltage
Engine RPM
Speed
Torque Sensor value
Steering Angle
Unlike a car, when the Spyder is at a stop, steering is going to be tighter.

In addition, the type of surface matters. The Spyder (especially the RT) can be very hard to turn when stopped if it sits on asphalt or brushed concrete. On smooth concrete or grass it is somewhat easier. It takes very little movement to make the power assist kick in...just get it rolling a tiny bit.

...that's why I always spray the concrete with WD-40.

The one labeled DPS.....duh....haha just kidding.
In the front fuse box there is a fuse labeled as dps or power steering, or something like that, but there is also the dps relay under the seat.
Both will completely disable the dps leaving the light on the dash and I think a scrolling message.
I did a few rides last summer with the dps off just to feel the difference and to troubleshoot some issues I was having.
Everything goes back to normal once you put the fuse/relay back in place with the machine off.
Its actually pretty nice to ride at speed.

Update
I did checked the steering out today before I went riding. I checked the steering with the engine off and the key on. Turned the steering back and
forth a few times to see how hard it was to move the bars. Then I started the engine and moved the steering. It was much easer to move the steering.
