    Default ISP Key Cover

Had one of Lamonster's ISP key covers on my 2010 RT, then I had it on my 2013 RT Limited. I just picked up my 2014 RT Limited and had the dealer install the ISP cover. They told me that they had to take it off after they installed it, because the Spyder ran like crap. They took it off, and it ran fine. They thought it had something to do with the DSS??
    Any thoughts on the problem?

I have Lamont's IPS key cover on mine with no problem, i think your dealer is feeding you a line, the key cover does nothing but cover the key.

It's a hunk of pretty aluminum; covering a computer chip...
Could it be shielding the signals?

Uh Oh i hope i don't get into another Battery situation again ............... How can the cover on a key affect the running of a Spyder??

It just does not compute to me, and i think it was a lame excuse, although as one time (a long time ago) i was wrong, but i would not admit it so it don't count.

    Joe,
    Don't worry about being wrong...
Even I once made a mistake...
I thought that I might be wrong about something...
...it turned out that I wasn't!

The key chip allows the Spyder to be started. It either starts or it doesn't. I would be surprised if the chip has anything to do with how the Spyder runs.

    That's right...
I found that I could start my 2010 with the dummy key IF I held the chipped one right along side of it...
After the bike started; I'd put the "chipper" in my pocket, and the bike ran just fine on the dummy...

You can adjust that key to suit your spyder's needs. Not saying that is a problem, but possibly??

    Default Interesting..!!

being a simple install I would do it again to confirm. Something else is going on but can't see it affecting anything unless they changed something in the chip on the new RT's. Now if I'm going to doubt some one it would be the dealer...jmo

When I made my first IPS I went to leave the shop and the Spyder wouldn't start, got an error code. Turns out the bottom plate I made was blocking the signal and that's why they are now plastic. I really don't see how this could or would cause it to run bad. I would have to see it to believe it.

    Default Wha?

I have never heard of something like that,...its a little silly, actually.

Did they check the tire pressure? Maybe that was messing with the air fuel mixture? ,.../sarcasm off.
