NEW BATTERY FOR 2010 RT

What is a good battery to replace the original battery with ? finally got the old one out . they sure did not leave any xtra room . I would like to find a battery with the same power but maybe alittle smaller case. Thanks to everyone who helped with telling me how too get it out.

there is a lot on the subject. I like the YUASA brand and would stay with it till there is a bit more on the new ones. They are smaller and lighter but it's up to you in the end...

I have used the yellow MotoBatt on an RT in the past with good results but I just replaced the oem battery on my 2012 Ltd with a MotoBatt and it seems to have less cranking power than the battery I replaced!

I have a bunch of LEDs and accessories that put a load on the battery so now I am considering replacing the MotoBatt with an Odyssey PC680 as I know they have a great reputation and are known for powerful cranking capacity for startups.

Honestly; if you got good service from the OEM, why not just stay with the known commodity?
Several folks in here have tried the Lithium batteries; their results seem a bit... unusual.
Check with Rattigan_Roger or Bluestratos about their experiences.

And if you have a problem with the battery its best if it was purchased locally, rather than by mail. I ordered a 2 yr warranty Motoblat once for a bike and leaked but turned out the cost to send it back exceeded its worth.

I stay with Yuasa or Od Pc680...whichever is avail.

i've had two motobatt's that leaked, i'm on my third right now. check out batteries plus store if there is one near you. spyder battery is around 120, with two year warranty. if i had to do it all over, that's where i would go.

it caused some damage, but not alot of visible damage. motobatt sent me all new parts. left rear panel, and left pass. peg mount. i do give them alot of credit for doing that, but it never should have happened in the first place.
leakage is caused by overfilling at the factory, to the point where the internal '' sponge '' can't hold all of it, then, out it comes. since pre- 13 bikes's batteries lay on their side, it only makes the problem worse, when there is a leak. class dismissed.

Will be replacing my stock RT-S battery with another OEM battery. JMHO the spyder is designed for that type of battery so will keep using the same type.

Look into Interstate Batteries. They have a direct replacement. Just installed one into my 2010 RTS. I have there batteries in all all my vehicles (Truck, SUV, 3 tractors and and a lawn mower). All diesel except SUV. Batteries last as advertised or longer.

I have the OEM replacement here waiting for the 35270 mi oil change on our 2010 RT, I will implant it just to be done with it. Original one doesn't hold quite the volts it did when new after sitting so I am not having good feelings about it and another HOT summer.

You have to remove the battery access panel under the seat, and usually the left side tupperware.

Here is the stock battery- Don,t think you will get much cheaper. Its a good battery- My 2009 GS still is on the Stock Battery because its Always on a Maintainer?

I have been thinking about batteries now for a while as my 2010 is still fine but I just don't want any suprises this summer. I keep mine on a tender and it has yet to fail me. With this OEM battery over 4 years old, I may stick with the factory brand as this one has given good service.

YUASA Batteries are good batteries. BRP is not the only one using them. All our Suzuki's, Kawasaki's and now both Spyder’s have them. They are USA made, reasonably priced and with a little bit of maintenance should last several years.

You do not have to purchase them from BRP, most motorcycle shops that are YUASA dealers could order you one. I'm not sure why some feel they have to move away from the OEM brand only to go sideways on specs.

thats what I just did last month, I got 53 k miles out of my 2010 and stayed with OEM. They ( dealership) prepped the battery the day before to make sure I got a good one.
