Did you check for codes? Push the mode, set and turn signal cancel buttons at the same time. If there are any active codes they will show up on the screen.

Without more background and any active fault codes it would just be guessing wildly to try to pinpoint your problem. Could be a batch of bad gas, could be heat, could be a bad sensor, throttle body, plug wires, bad coil, blown engine, electronic problem, etc. Time to have it towed to a dealer and let them sort it out...unless you had recently filled with gas. In that case I'd siphon what I could out of the tank, fill with fresh name brand gas and some Marine Stabil or Seafoam, and try to run that tank through and see if it clears up. Follow with another tank of good gas and the stabilizer/ethanol treatment if that is successful.

Very interesting, but nowhere near enough information to give a meaningful response.

The same thing happened to me in the fast lane of heavy traffic in L.A. I didn't realize it but I had accidentally hit my kill switch. Other than almost getting killed crossing 4 lanes to the right shoulder in 70 mph traffic for my stupidity, it only took figuring out what I'd done.

Too bad this isn't your solution.

My guess is you had a throttle body go bad but it's just a guess. 2011 ate throttle bodies. Check your codes.

Just watched Lamonts video above. Does the bike have to be running to check codes?

It has to at least be powered up; but it doesn't have to be running...

Does this code check sequence work on all models and years of Spyder?

Spyders have dry sump engines, so to get an accurate read on the oil level, you have to check right after shutting it off. If the engine has been off more than a few minutes, some of the oil will drain into the crankcase/trans case, and you'll get a low reading on the tank.

If oil really is that low sounds like maybe a low oil sensor is preventing the engine from starting.

There is no "low oil" sensor, only a low oil pressure sensor. It will not prevent the engine from starting, but it will trigger a limp mode after it times out following the start sequence.

Had something similar happen. They told me there is a line in the throttle body that had came loose and was dripping oil on the sensor. So it could be the sensor. Mine was a 2011 as well. On mine they reattached the line to the anchor and cleaned the sensor.

Can you elaborate a bit more on the "strat sequence"? Not familiar with that one!
