For what it would cost to ship it to Florida you would be better off to buy a used 6x10 trailer and haul it there, providing you are not already hauling a trailer. I did use haulbikes.com to ship my wife's Spyder when we bought it last year. You can't be in too much of a hurry to get it though.

Way back in the day I had a small car and I towed a small trailer behind it. Check with u-haul and see what they have to say. Where in Florida are you heading to?

I would ask a couple of your local dealers who they use? They trade bikes between each other all the time here and have drivers/tow companies that do this .

You could ride the spyder to fl and have the car shipped by auto transport. We used to do this from newark airport to west palm. I would watch them loading the car however so as not to bottom out while loading.

The manual for my 3800cc V6 Buick LeSabre says 1000lb. maximum towing weight. That's not enough for a 950lb. Spyder plus the weight of a trailer...

I used ID Transport to carry my spyder from Florida to Virginia. They were excellent and reasonably priced. http://www.idtransport.com/
    They only carry motorcycles.

How about that train that you can take your bike on board while you ride? It's an Amtrak route. You could escort your Spyder to Fla, train ride back the NJ and then drive your car.

You can take the Auto Train from Lorton Va to Sanford (Orlando) Fl. I have taken the auto train many times and is tons of fun and a very practical way to get your car and bike down.

Get a bigger Uhaul truck with a car trailer. Put the spyder in the truck and the car on the trailer.

There's lots of bike shippers out there. During Biketoberfest and Bike week in March, there are probably a thousand bikes shipped down to Daytona. Here's a simple site for checking:
    http://www.motorcycle-shipping.co/?g...Fcnm7AodThsA_g
Also as far as the towing aspect..I've got an aluminum trailer that only weighs in the 400s and is perfect for the Spyder. When I've towed it with a 6 cyl Dodge Caravan, you don't even know it's back there and it only loses 2 mpg. (when towing with my camper I have a zero mpg diff) Weights to watch when towing is really the gross weight, you can tow more if you're not heavily loaded inside the vehicle. Only safety restrictions would be tongue weight and wheelbase vs trailer length of which neither is an issue with this kind of towing. Fairly flat terrain so power not a major issue.
Good luck with the move--where in Florida are you headed?

    i'm what's called a HALF-BACK....

i moved from Massachusetts to Florida in 1990.... and within a couple years, i really, REALLY, REALLY got sick of the BS in Florida; high taxes, garbage water, traffic jams, Q-tips (u'll figure that 1 out soon enuff) and in 1999, so i moved to South Carolina...

i suggest that you forgo the Florida thing, b'kuz u'll find out that Florida isn't what you thought it was, and choose the tri-state areas of northern South Carolina, western North Carolina or eastern Tennessee.... that way you won't waste your $$$ or YEARS in a God-forsaken location....
    otherwise, good luck...
OH.... as for towing... speak with U-HAUL, they have everything u will ever need.....

it couldnt cost to much to rent a trailer one way...and the peace of mind knowing where the spyder is overcomes any price issue...i have found no reason to let my spyder out of my sight for that long....you know you could get a one way flight and then drive your bike to florida!!!!
