    Default Tire Replacement

I will be getting new tires at the 14000 mile check. My dealer said he will not install anything except OEM's. I am wondering where to go to get other manufactures tires installed. Any suggestions?

Go to another dealer. My dealer in Ladson, SC (near Charleston) is very happy to put non OEM tires on. Another dealer near you might as well.

It is a mixed bag concerning dealer will/will not install other than OEM tires. I have a will not dealer, so use the OEM tires on mine.

The advice of looking up information about tires in the search function will more than answer your question.

Paul, order the tire/s you want (I use Discount Tires) and take them to Honda/Can Am in Winston Salem. They've installed two rears for me and one or more for my friends with no questions. I've never asked, but I imagine you could have the tires shipped directly to them and then wait while they're being installed. That would save you from having to haul them up by car. Call and ask for Kevin in the shop 336 765-0330. I think highly of both Can Am mechanics, Brad and Steve. Both have worked on mine. If you need stuff like oil filters and such, ask at parts desk and you might get a 10% discount.

I had a dealer tell me the same thing; "I won't install anything other than OEM parts" and fumed about me bringing Amsoil for mine. He did reluctantly do the oil change but "only because I bought the RT from him". He never saw me again after that.

It rally is a hit or miss kind of thing.
I can get new tires through rnet installed.
My local dealer who sold me the Spyder will install tires, but I have to provide them. He will not get involved with supplying the tires because it implies an approval.

This whole "Gotta Use" OEM tires is stupid. Like oil, BRP should provide minimum specifications. Tires that meet or exceed those specs should be OK.
If it ain't broke, don't break it.

    165/65R14 UNIROYAL MS PLUS 5
    165/65R14 SEMPERIT WINTER-GRIP
    165/65R14 PIRELLI W190 SNOWCONTROL
    165/65R14 GOODYEAR ULTRAGRIP 7
165/65R14 DUNLOP SP WINTER SPORT M3
    165/65R14 CONTINENTAL TS 800
    165/65R14 MICHELIN ALPIN A3

    For rear tire:
    -Federal 225/50R15 SS-595 91W
    -Fulda 225/50R15 Cart extremo
    -Michelin 225/50R15 PI.Exalto PE-2
-Toyo R888 225/50R15, approved for road, but not good under rain (aquaplanning).
    -Pirelli P Zero A
    -Dunlop SP9000

personally, i'm running KUMHO's up front, as well as the rear... with exceptional performance from both...
Front are: KUMHO Solus HM, P175/65R14, Rear is: KUMHO AST, 225/50R15....

    Tires
Just so you guys what these tires should cost out the door including install and balance. Falken ZE 912 is $126.70, Kumho Ecsta AST is $142.90, Toyo Proxes 4 is 175.30, All are good tires and in stock at my son's store. The Kumho and Toyo are the best in wet conditions. Now if you are having trouble hooking up on the drag strip and still want to drive it there try the Toyo Proxes RA1 at 231.46 installed. Not good in the rain though.

    FOR THE UMTEENTH-MILLION TIME....
    KUMHO AST 225/50-R15

Michelin HydroEdge 215/60R15 on mine. The slightly larger tire diameter has not caused any Nanny issues and now has my speedometer always within 1 mph of the GPS speed & often they read the same speed. The HydroEdge is discontinued & is replaced with the Michelin Defender,
Front are 175/65R14 & are slightly wider than the OEM.

Ordered the Toyo tonight. Got it from onlinetire for $112 shipped.
