The ideal place to place the jack stand, is under the frame, and let the swing arm hang. I've never tried it under the shock itself.

I also always use the frame just ahead of the R shock. On the other hand....................if you place the stand so it doesn't bend anything when you lower the Spyder onto it; I don't know why you couldn't. This may be one of those instances where no one else has gone there before, and you'll be pioneering for the rest of us . Are you trying to compress the R shock to it's loaded state?

No, just installing Bajaron sway bar and Nbv pegs. I have ATV jack to raise RT and wanted lower it on to stands. Then get lift out of the way.

Depends..!
on the work being done. You can raise the spyder at the rear shock but not if you are working on the belt. Jack stands may not bridge the shock supports do not recommend resting on the shock bolt. I usually put the front end on stands and rear wheel on blocks...

I've seen the shop mechanics raise numerous Can Ams with a jack on the rear shock. I have on mine, many times when I want to turn the wheel for cleaning or checking over the tire and belt.

Had mine on jack stands for 2 months because of surgery with the rear jack stand under the rear shock and had no ill side effects or marks.

I don't recommend it. It is pretty easy to bend the shock bolt that way. Using a 2x4 across the swingarm and jacking or resting on that is safer. If you don't need to remove or turn the rear wheel, just lower it onto some planks or blocks.
