Windshield Cleaner... PlexiBrite vs Plexus ?

Has anybody tried PlexiBrite for cleaning/polishing spyder windshields? I had not seen this product before but it is less than half the cost of Plexus...

I buy Plexus by the case so I am more than willing to try this PlexiBrite stuff and report back on it. Gladly. Plexus cranked up their pricing a few years back and many distributors dropped it so it has been a pain getting it, but it is so very good. It has been the ONLY product I will use for Lexan, specifically windshields, goggles and face shields. I carry a can up in the frunk in every Spyder. A little competition might be all we need here to get the Plexus pricing back in line. Who knows, maybe the PlexiBrite might work?

Just got a couple of cans from Value Accessories and gave it a try on the RT windscreen... It sure smells like Plexus, sprays on similar, and seemed to do a great job... For a third of the price of Plexus I think its a winner!

was using plexus for a time but the cost kept creeping up. Now use protect all which works well and is affordable. Will have to check out this product....thanks..!!

I use pledge on the bike, but Plexus on the windshield, mirrors. And lenses.

when I first bought the Spyder it took about 1/2 to 3/4 of s can to polish my whole RT. I have about 20 coats on it now. I can get about 4 polish jobs out of a can now. First I rinse the whole bike with water, no soap. I use a clean towell and a bucket of water to rinse it. Then I dry it with a very soft clean towell. Then I polish it. I polish an area about 2' x2' at a time. Spray a little, wipe dry. After I do the whole bike that way, I then get a dry soft towell and buff the bike a second time. I try to do this every time I notice dust on the windshield, or after a long ride. So it gets polished about twice a week. It takes me about 1 1/2 hours to do the whole thing, including the wheels.

At Vegas Bikeweek last wek a Spyder dealer talked to me for about ten minutes on how to make his bikes look as shiney as mine. I told him what I do, and reminded him to polish the front springs, shocks, and panels that you can see too.

edit: I forgot to say, i don't use tire wet on the tires. It is too expensive. I use Future floor wax. One of the chemists at the university tested the stuff and said both were the same thing...just that tire wet was mor diluted than Future.

I just used pledged on all my Tupperware, Per your advice. MAN WHAT A SHINE !!!!! I have never seen anything looks so clean. Did not use it on the windshield.

We have been selling Plexi Brite for a couple years. They gave us a case to try out before we started selling it.
We like it better then the Original Cleaner (was Honda Cleaner). It works great on all your panels and shield. Seems to spot clean great and leaves a nice shine. Works just as good on the shield as Plexus for cleaning. We have used Plexus for years and like that a lot also, just not the price. You will use less of Plexus, and the coating it leaves on your shield will make it last longer. We have noticed the shields on all of our bikes look good for many years while using Plexus all the time on them. Maybe if you clean your shield every time you fill up with Plexi Brite it will last the same.
Seems like the shine is a little better with Plexi Brite. For the money Plexi Brite is the best buy and easy to use. I believe that if you use it all the time on your shield it should make the shield last almost as long as using Plexus.
Keep a can in your Spyder and at least use it to clean your shield and when de-bugging when you can't wash it.

I got a couple of cans of Plexi Brite from Value Accessories. I have been buying Plexus by the case for years, use a lot of it for snowmobiles, dirt bikes, Spyders, goggles, faceshields, plastic windshields, etc.

It is kind of funny, when I used the Plexi Brite I thought it smelled VERY different from Plexus, but my brother walked in and told me he thought it smelled very much like Plexus. Go figure.

The Plexi Brite is doing a very good job at cleaning the plastics, it is impressive. About my only observation against it is that it doesn’t leave the plastic as slippery as Plexus. Plexus leaves the plastic almost like it has been waxed, so bugs and stuff doesn’t stick to it. Plexus makes your goggles act like they have Rain-X on them, the rain sheets right off. Plexi Brite doesn’t quite have this effect. But for a plastic cleaner, like on the Spyder, it seems to work very well. Great value. Considering the Plexi Brite is less than half the price of Plexus, it is a great find! But I will still be using Plexus on the optics, especially coated optics. Like goggles or sunglasses.

Hey folks, just have to put my two cents worth in....when the time comes that you are looking for a new/better performing shield, try one of ours. No more special cleaners needed, just your favorite glass cleaner (Windex, F4 Cleaner, etc.) and paper towels! Spend less time cleaning your shield and more time polishing or riding your Spyder! Sport (minus 3"), Sport Wide (5" wider), Stock, Stock Wide and Plus 3" Wide available. Tinted or Clear.

I use both pledge and meguirs quick detailer. The other benefit of using pledge between waxings is that it does help repel some of the dust when sitting. One other cool thing is to use a lite mist of pledge on a "California car duster".... Just like dusting the furniture in the house!..

Good Discussion. Been using the Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish, at my dealers recommendation. I am sure Honda does not make this stuff - re-labeled Plexus?? We have 3 bikes total, and use it on every one. Works great on Windshield and helmet visors, inside and out. Don't forgit the inside of that windshield as well! Use Turtle Wax Ice on the tupperware, no white haze and its super slick! Really makes bug removal easy at wash time. I use just a dab of wheel shine on the tires - a definte no no on two wheel motorcycles, ok on Spyders. But just barely enough to have a bit of a shine!

I use Protect-all also. Goes a long way and you can find it usually at Walmart.

I use it on my helmet and shield also.

Used to always use it on our ATVs also.

I was at a recent spyder event and a seasoned rider told me about hydrogen peroxide for windshields. 3% solution comes in a spray bottle. My wife picked me up a bottle. I have not had a chance to try it. Allegedly it rehydrates the bug goo on the and you don't have to scrub. Scrubbing cause the windshield to degrade......Gary
