Default LAST CALL for Tunnel of Trees Oct 11-13

Days Inn Petoskey has room held till Oct 1. Here is the previous post:

Friday is a get together dinner for all interested, Saturday is the ride to Legs Inn (about 35 miles from motel) through the Tunnel of Trees. We'll leave the motel around 11. After that folks can decide where to go next. Some may want to go to the Bridge others elsewhere. Sunday is open to return or maybe a ride south (we summer in Lewiston and can lead an enjoyable ride to there.)This is very informal and casual get together. I've contacted the Days Inn and they are holding 10 rooms, 2 queen rooms for $88 and 8 king for $91. There number is 231-348-3900. the rooms will be held till October 1. Call them direct to make your reservation. Mention the Spyder Group.

I'll check with the motel on Oct 1 an post who is coming. If you plan on riding but not staying at motel let me know. Thanks! Ron

Saturday and Sunday is Charlevoix's Fall Festival with more than 100 exhibitors in downtown Charlevoix. I'll guide a scenic ride to Charlevoix from Legs Inn after lunch. The festival is awesome, we've attended several years and is not to be missed!

    Default BEAUTIFUL RYDE!

This really is a beautiful ryde, and not to be missed. My hubby and I have done it several times, last time was this summer on the Spyders. If you stop at the little general store on the route, they have patches and pins to commemorate your ride.

They also have great brownies and cookies, with picnic tables along the side to sit at.

I wish we could join you!! Have a great time and take lots of pictures.

    Default As of Oct 5...

    (from PureMichigan.com)

Most color in the Traverse Bay region is among the climbing crimson-colored Virginia creeper vines and scarlet-colored low shrubs like the staghorn sumac. Red maples are beginning to show brilliant crimson color, especially at the edge of the forest, while sugar maples -- the workhorses of the fall color season in Traverse City -- are starting to glow with reds, oranges and gold. The cottonwood trees near the Sleeping Bear Dunes on the Leelanau Peninsula are turning a bright buttery yellow now and the honeylocusts are a warm gold. Prime viewing is only a week or two away in most parts of the Traverse Bay region. Peak conditions should arrive within the next two week.
For the rest of the Northwest Lower Peninsula region, expect peak conditions to occur in early October in the inland areas and mid-October near the Lake Michigan shoreline.

Hi Ron, it surely isn't because we don't want to be there. This the last weekend we have to close up our RV for the winter. The tunnel is one of our favorite rides. We considered closing up the RV on Friday and Sunday and doing the tunnel ride with you on Saturday. But just to much to do. Enjoy the ride and don't forget Tom's Mom's Cookies in Harbor Springs....they are the best. Have fun everyone. Bob

Trying to get out a day early and get some riding in. The weather is allowing for some easy riding and some great Michigan fall colors. Looking forward to meeting you all this weekend. I think this is an arrive early stay late weekend.

    Default Meal planning...

I called Legs Inn and was told this Saturday is the biggest day of their year, expect an hour to an hour and a half wait

I have an alternative about 7 miles from Legs, nice little "road house" http://www.moosejawjunction.com. I called them and was told not a problem, should be room for us... we'll see?!

We can ride through the "Tunnel" to Legs, take pictures and then continue on.

We can discuss what we'd like to do on Friday. See you all at 6pm Friday at the Petoskey Days Inn. My cell is 317-844-5587
