I know the panel w the scoop is new, which other panel is replaced? The ones w the black vents next to the frunk, or the upper panel by the mirrors?

Also, what are the black plug looking things on the upper panels?

The panel that surrounds the foglight is new. Same opening for the black foglight panel but the new panel is extended so that it goes underneath the other new panel. Look at the pictures and you can see what I'm talking about.

The black plugs on either side are my auxiliary power outlets. One side is a dual USB port and the other side is a conventional cigarette lighter outlet. Both items are by Blue Sea and I picked them up on Amazon.

So your two outlets are actually in the new panels?

Not at all. The outlets are in the very top panels which are original panels and not new.

In the attached picture you can see where I mounted outlets on each side and where the old panel was and the new panel is now.

When you say, the panel surrounding the headlight do you mean the main headlights or are you referring to the foglights in the side panels?

i still don't get which second panel is replaced even looking at the pics and looking at my bike?

I think I know which panel you mean now, but that is a fog light not a headlight.

So now the questions I keep asking myself since I own a Pure Magnesium Metallic is do I:

    1. Buy Silver Platinum Satin and call it a day.
    2. Buy Steel Black Metallic and go for some grey and black action.
    3. Buy Pearl White and attempt to get it painted to match at a local shop.

All I see right now are dollar signs leaving my wallet. Thanks a lot quickster47!

Duh!!! My bad!!! It is the foglights and not the headlights. For some reason I was thinking lights and not really paying attention to what I was posting. I guess it's my age and that CRS kicking in on me.

    Carl,
congratulations on your very successful project.
And thanks for guiding us through it.

I'll follow you as soon as I figure how to approach the colors of new panels and my orange RS-S.

Just a thought/suggestion. Perhaps you could consider doing a two-tone RS-S and mixing in the new panels in a different color.

Grey and Black would look pretty sharp!

And you'd always have the option to paint at a later date too!

BRP should seriously consider doing a run, even a limited one, of the new panels in previous colors. At least in the 2013 colors if it helps people with heat problems.

It would be a nice option when you order, they wouldn't have to produce but a few and mention it takes extra time for special colors. That way they don't lose over producing them.

This all of course depends on their manufacturing process, I know its a major ordeal in car manufacturing to add special colors to an existing process line.

I was thinking about doing the black on my white pearl. I've looked at your pics, maybe I'll photoshop one, recolor the panels black and see how it looks. Can't wait to see how it helps to dissipate the heat in the engine compartment, cool it down. With lots of time, around $200 and some patience I reduced the heat ON the left side panels by 50% but I'm just not comfortable with all that heat in there, I'm afraid it's going to start effecting the engine components.

I know the telephone people don't really know what's going on but the one I talked to about the panels last week put me on hold to do some checking, came back and told me that a fix is under development and that I should call back in a month or so to see if it's available yet. She did not know what, when or oh much. I'm hoping for a fix but not expecting one.

I was thinking about it. It would look good with black panels since some of the parts are black already,
However; it should be black in satin to match the finish on other panels.
And here we go, back to square one.

I would just change the whole color to Circuit Yellow Metallic, the fastest color.

I really like alloy orange and black. It was a selling point for me.

Same. The Cognac is pretty close. I saw them side by side at my dealer when buying my alloy orange.

    Let's wait a while.
Hopefully for once BRP will help us fixing their engineering mistakes.

That would be the greatest thing a manufacturer has done for anyone in a very very long while.

It would IMO really push them into the limelight of customer service and propel them forward as a great company.
